Staying at the Walt Disney World Resort any time of the year is magical. But staying at the Walt Disney World Resort during the Christmas season makes the experience even more magical. And if you are planning to visit Disney World during the holiday season, then might I suggest staying at Pop Century?
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is great any time of the year. But it’s really great staying here during the holiday season. Today, we go over the reasons why.
1. Location
Pop Century is located right on the Skyliner line. That makes it incredibly easy and convenient to get to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot. I much prefer it to the busses.
So obviously that is great any time of the year. But why is that important during the holiday season?
Well, for starters, Disney World has a great new after-hour holiday party at Hollywood Studios called Jollywood Nights; you can find out more information about the event here (although please note that if you do take the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios for this event, you cannot take the Skyliner back to the hotel. You’ll need to take a bus). You can also attend Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood Studios, a great Christmas-themed character dining experience.
But it’s also really great that you can take a Skyliner to Epcot. Because that is where’s Festival of the Holidays takes place! You can find out more about the Festival of the Holidays here.
The Skyliner takes you right to the World Showcase entrance, and the World Showcase is where a lot of the great parts of the festival take place. You can enjoy the storytellers at the different pavilions telling guests about different holiday customs and festivities throughout the world. And the Candlelight Processional takes place at the American Pavilion.
Now, there are other hotels on the Skyliner line. But Pop Century is the most affordable of the Skyliner hotels. And you can save even more money at Pop Century by reading our Pop Century tips.
2. Holiday Decorations
The lobby of Pop Century is beautifully decorated for the holiday season. There are beautiful decorations throughout the lobby.
They also have a huge Christmas tree.
At first glance, it’s just a great Christmas tree. But when you get closer, you can see how perfectly is themed to the resort’s theme. There are records on the tree for the 1950’s, Rubik’s Cube for the 1980’s, peace signs for the 1960’s, etc.
3. Christmas Music
They also play great Christmas music throughout the hotel. All the Christmas music they play, too, really fits the theme of the hotel. For example, they play the 1960s song “Cool Jerk”, which was featured in the 1990s Christmas movie, Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. Also, they play “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, a popular 1950s Christmas song (which actually was featured in the original 1990s Home Alone movie).
4. Wreath Decorating Contest
Pop Century also has a fun wreath decorating contest! Cast members (otherwise known as employees) at Pop Century created Disney-themed Christmas wreaths. And Pop Century guests can vote on which wreath is their favorite! They really have some great wreaths, too.
5. Christmas Activities
The Christmas wreath decorating contest isn’t the only fun Christmas activity going on at the hotel! There are other fun festivities. For example, children can write letters to Santa Claus inside the Kid Zone on Friday nights.
Pop Century also plays movies by the pool at night. During the holiday season, on some nights, you’ll get to enjoy a holiday movie. For example, this past week, they showed The Muppets Christmas Carol on Sunday, Home Alone on Monday, and Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause on Thursday.
