Best Western Plus Richmond Hill Inn near Savannah is a hotel I’ve stayed in multiple times. I highly recommend this hotel, whether you are vacationing in Savannah or need a place to stay on the way to Florida.
In this review, I’ll go through different parts of the hotel. I have mostly positive things to say about the hotel, but there are some negatives which I will describe in the review.
Pricing
Let’s start with pricing, because that is what first drew me to this hotel in the first place. It can be hard to find a good rate for a quality hotel, but that is what you get here. The cheapest prices are when you book directly here.
Guest Rooms
The guest rooms are good, especially the beds.
The beds were so comfortable that sitting on one made me want to go take a nap!
But there is also plenty of space in the rooms, which is a definite plus.
The room also had a lot of features I like in a guest room, like a mini refrigerator and a microwave.
Pool
A big reason after staying here the first time that I wanted to come back was the hotel’s pool. The hotel’s pool is really great.
First of all, it is indoors. I love that because it means you can swim there in a lot of different weather conditions (such as really cold or rainy).
My favorite part of the pool is how the water overflows from the hot tub into the pool. It makes the water warmer. I was here once in January and went swimming, and while it was cold outside, the water was warm. I’ve never actually had something like that before in an indoor pool. Usually when you swim in an indoor pool in the winter, the water is still pretty cold. This really is a great feature.
The pool is not huge, but there is enough room to swim, especially if you have the pool to yourself or there are not many other people in it.
One negative, though: when I was there a month ago, the hot tub was closed (which they did not mention at the front desk). But that really didn’t dampen my visit. The pool still had nice, warm water, and I had a perfectly wonderful swim.
There is also a nice area off the pool with lots of seating. It is very relaxing.
This is honestly one of the best indoor pools I’ve ever experienced in all of my travels, and is a big reason why I recommend this hotel.
Breakfast
Another reason why I recommend this hotel is their free breakfast.
I really liked the breakfast. In fact, I would say in terms of continental breakfasts I’ve been to, this was in the upper echelon of free breakfasts.
One reason why is that they had almond milk. Most hotels do not have non-dairy options, and I appreciated that as someone who can’t have milk. There were multiple cereal options, too.
There was hot food available as well. There were options like sausage and eggs.
There was a great mix of pastries and breads, and options that not all breakfasts have, like croissants.
And they even had a pancake maker! I love pancake makers, better than waffle makers, mainly because it is a lot less work. You just press a button and wait for your pancakes!
There is plenty of seating for breakfast, too.
Location
Another great thing about this hotel is its location.
Its location off I-95 exit 87 makes it incredibly convenient. This makes the hotel very convenient for a stop off of I-95 on the way to Florida. I have stayed there before on the way to and on the way back from Orlando. It made for a wonderful stop.
But even with the location being off the interstate, it’s not right beside the road. So it’s quiet while being convenient, which you don’t always get.
But its location near Savannah also makes it a good location if you want to visit Savannah. You won’t be in Savannah, so it is less convenient than if you were say staying downtown. But it’s cheaper to stay in Richmond Hill, and the hotel has a lot of great features you might not get in a downtown Savannah hotel.
The other nice thing about the location of this hotel is that it is close to a lot of restaurants. It is right behind an Arby’s if you want something quick after you check in, which is what we did the last time we stayed there. But a number of other restaurants are a short drive away. For example, another time we stayed there, we had dinner at the nearby Bubba’s Bistro, which is a great restaurant.
Elevator
I do have to point out something a bit negative about this hotel, and that is the elevator.
Now, first of all, there is an elevator. And not all hotels have an elevator, so I really do appreciate that they have one.
But, emphasis on the word one. As in, they only have one elevator. As in, if that elevator is not working (which thankfully has not happened when I was there), there would be no other elevator. As in, the hotel can get backed up if a lot of people are checking out at the same time.
So that is something to keep in mind if you book this hotel.
Why I Recommend Best Western Plus Richmond Hill Inn
In conclusion, I recommend Best Western Plus Richmond Hill Inn because:
- It is very affordable
- It has a great location off I-95 with lots of dining nearby, so it is great for both a trip to Savannah and a place to stay to and from Florida
- It has a wonderful indoor pool with warm water
- It has a free breakfast with a wonderful selection
- The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are fairly spacious
This is not to say the hotel is without negatives (for example, it only has one elevator), but the positives here outweigh the negatives.
