Houston Museum of Natural Science

Did you miss the Houston Museum of Natural Science when it was closed during quarantine?  Well, you will be happy to know it is back open.  Interactive exhibits are still closed, but there are still a lot of great exhibits open.  Other safety measures will be in place, too.  There’s reduced capacity, guests are required to wear facemasks, and there are temperature checks.

So now is definitely the time to visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science again.  Especially since there are so many great exhibits you can explore.  And you can see them at a discounted price!  We have great coupons available for the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  We will go over them today.

Butterfly Center

The Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science is amazing.  Its Rainforest Conservatory is a 3-story glass structure that is built around a 50-foot waterfall.  There you can find exotic plants and, as you would expect, hundreds of free-flying butterflies from around the world!

But that’s not all.  There is an Insects and Us section where you can look into an entomologist’s lab and get at up-close look at the insect specimens.  You also learn about beekeeping and butterfly gardening tips there.

And did I mention the Amazing World of Arthropods?  That’s where you get to see amazing creatures like Houston’s largest cockroaches!

Hall of Ancient Egypt

Hall of Ancient Egypt is a permanent collection at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  And it is a great exhibit.  You get to see artifacts collected in the late 18th century when the Western world started exploring Egypt.  You get to compare old-style archaeology with 21st-century approaches.  For example, satellite imagery and remote sensing are used to locate and map ancient settlements.  And you will not want to miss Ankh Hap, the museum’s own mummy!
