Halloween 2024 is quickly approaching, and that means it is time to attend the SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular once again!
SeaWorld theme park in San Diego, California has a wonderful celebration going every year for Halloween. The Halloween Spooktacular is a great event that families with children of all ages can enjoy. If you are looking for a scarier event that is more aimed for older teens and adults, then check out our SeaWorld San Diego Howl-O-Scream Guide.
My family has attended the Halloween Spooktacular in San Diego in the past and we had a wonderful time. It takes place on the weekends (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays). It runs through November 3, 2024.
I want to tell you all the fun activities you can enjoy here. And then I’ll tell you how you can save money on your tickets (spoiler alert: you can find these discounted tickets here).
Trick-Or-Treating
Looking for a fun place to trick-or-treat this year? Then look no further than SeaWorld San Diego!
I really love trick-or-treating at a theme park. It is a fun, safe way to enjoy all the fun of trick-or-treating.
Trick-or-treating takes place from after 4 p.m. on Fridays and after 2 p.m. on Saturdays & Sundays.
Please note that in order to participate in trick-or-treating, you must use a SeaWorld reusable trick-or-treating bag. You can purchase them for just $4.99 at any retail location throughout the park. You can get a discount on this price, too, if you are a SeaWorld annual pass member.
Halloween Costumes
One fun thing about the event is that you can wear a Halloween costume to the event! This includes children and children at heart!
Please note, however, that guests who are ages 13 and older may not wear costume masks or hoods. Face painting is also not permitted on any guests unless it takes place at the park by park artists. Also, all costumes are still subject to the normal dress code for the park.
Captain Sweet Tooth’s Pirate-y Cavalcade
Meet the infamous candy pirate, Captain Sweet Tooth, and his crew at the all-new Captain Sweet Tooth’s Pirate-y Cavalcade. You’ll get to enjoy themed floats and anostalgic musical throwback to a previous SeaWorld show, Pirates of Pippinped!
This starts at the Whale Shop, travels through the front of park, and then returns back to the Whale Shop.
Dia de los Muertos
This is my favorite part of SeaWorld San Diego’s Halloween celebration! See, the Halloween Spooktacular doesn’t just celebrate Halloween, but it also celebrates the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos, too. Their Dia de los Muertos celebrates features gigantic, beautifully dressed Catrina statues and ofrendas (offerings) of mementos and flowers honoring loved ones who have passed away.
This (fittingly) takes place from November 1, 2024, through November 3, 2024.
Waterfront Pumpkin Patch
What could make a pumpkin patch better? How about one with gorgeous views of Mission Bay?
You can find that at the Waterfront Pumpkin Patch, where there’s also festive Halloween decorations, photo opportunities, food, and roaming live music. You can find this at the back of the park.
Spooktacular Pumpkin Hunt
One Halloween activity I always liked as a child was a good pumpkin hunt. So I am glad that is included in the Halloween Spooktacular event.
How it works is that you buy a Spooktacular Pumpkin Hunt Map at the SeaWorld Store. You use it to track down SeaWorld and Halloween-inspired painted pumpkins. Once you have completed your map, you can redeem it at The SeaWorld Store for a special prize!
Candy Quest
Captain Sweet Tooth helps you find a secret word that unlocks delicious treasure that may have something to do with the name of this quest. You can find this new attraction on the lawn at the back of SeaWorld between Bayside Amphitheatre and Waterfront. This takes place during trick-or-treat hours.
Pirate Sea Shanty Band
Sing and dance yourself alongside the Scurvy Squad. This takes place at various locations throughout the day, including Shipwreck Pathway and the Waterfront Pumpkin Patch.
O.P. Otter’s Spooktacular Surprise
Join the popular trickster O.P. Otter and his SeaWorld character friends for a Halloween costume party full of fall-themed song-and-dance. This happens several times a day at Mission Bay Theater.
Meet a Mermaid
And finally, you can even meet a mermaid at SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular! This is an immersive experience along the Trick-or-Treat Trail.
Story Time With the Captain
All-new this year is story time with animatronic pirate skeletons, Captain Sweet Tooth and First Mate Peggy. Hear about their latest adventure near the Waterfront and Candy Quest areas.
Discounted Halloween Spooktacular Tickets
One great thing about SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular celebration is that since it is during regular park hours, it is included in the cost of admission!
You can find the cheapest tickets for SeaWorld San Diego here. There’s a great sale where you save up to 45% on your ticket.
They also have another great deal where if you buy an adult ticket, you can get a kid ticket for free! So definitely buy your tickets there.
Admission is also included in an annual pass or fun card, so if you already have one that will cover you.
