Epic Universe, the newest theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort, debuted this summer. And that means a lot of us are rushing to the park to be one of the first visitors.
But that also means that we are visiting Epic Universe in the summer. In Florida. Where it gets very hot in the summer.
My family visited Epic Universe for the first time recently, and we had a wonderful time. But it got really hot. So hot at a few points, I started to feel nauseous.
But luckily, I picked up a few tips during the day on how to stay cool during a day at Epic Universe. So of course I wanted to share these tips!
After all, I had a wonderful time at Epic Universe and i want all of you to enjoy a visit there as well. Speaking of which, you can find out how to save money on Epic Universe tickets here.
But back to ways to stay cool during an Epic Universe visit!
Bring a Water Bottle…and Keep Refilling It
Water is a great way to stay cool, and luckily, there is a great way to keep drinking cold water all day at Epic Universe.
What you’ll want to do is a bring a water bottle. You can consider bringing a water bottle that gets you excited for your day at Epic Universe, such as a Super Mario water bottle, a Donkey Kong Water Bottle, a werewolf water bottle or a Harry Potter water bottle. But really, any water bottle will do.
Because during the day, you can refill your drink at any of the Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines with cold water!
You’ll find them at virtually any quick service restaurant (sans The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, because they don’t serve “muggle drinks” like Coke). You can find a list of restaurants at Epic Universe in our Epic Universe Dining Guide here.
If you click on the “water” option at the bottom of the left-hand side, you can get water for free – and the water is cold and good! It’s much better than water you would get from a water fountain. This water really helped me during my day stay hydrated, so I highly recommend you trying this, too!
Bring Fan
I don’t think I could have gotten through the day without a fan. Portable fans like this are lifesavers during a hot day.
Ride Fyre Drill
Fyre Drill is a family-friendly boat ride where you can blast water cannons at flame-like targets…as well as guests on other boats.
That means you could get very wet doing this ride. But when it’s hot, you may appreciate getting wet. So this ride can be a good idea when you need a release from the heat!
Head to Astronomica Splash Pad in Celestial Park
Astronomica Splash Pad in Celestial Park is a great place to go to cool off.
I don’t even like being wet, but I went over there once to splash a bit of water on my face. You can find it at the back of the park near Helios Grand Hotel.
Watch The Untrainable Dragon Show
The Untrainable Dragon is an indoor show where you can sit down and enjoy air conditioning. It’s also a great show with live singing, drums, and great special effects so you can watch someone riding a dragon.
But on a really hot day, let’s be real. The best part of watching this show may be the air conditioning!
Have a Cold Dessert
Not only can a cold treat be delicious, but it can be a great way to cool down! That could mean getting a banana float at the Bubbly Barrel at Donky Kong Country in Super Nintendo World.
Or you could get an ice cream cone at Frosty Moon at Celestial Park. Or try one of Yoshi’s Smoothie at Super Nintendo World. There are (thankfully) multiple options!
Bring an Umbrella
An umbrella is a good idea to bring because in Florida, it can start raining at unexpected times. But it has an added bonus: it can also work as a parasol. A compact travel umbrella like this would be a great purchase before your trip.
Donkey Kong Country Entrance
The entrance to the Donkey Kong Country section of Super Nintendo World is a covered tunnel that is air-conditioned. It is a nice, hidden gem of a place to go to cool off. When I was there, I even saw people lying down there taking naps.
Leave During the Day
Sometimes, the heat can be too much. In these cases, you could consider leaving during the hottest part of the day and then coming back at night.
This works the best if you are staying at a Universal Orlando hotel, especially if you are staying at the Helios Grand Hotel since it is practically in the park. You can walk to Stella Nova, but be aware if you are really hot that the walkway to Stella Nova is not shaded so if you are feeling heat exhaustion, take a bus back. The busses come a lot and the bus ride is very short back to Stella Nova (same with Terra Luna).
If you’d like to stay at a Universal Orlando hotel, here are some tips to save money on Universal hotels.
Do Early Entry
The last tip is easier to do if you stay at a Universal Orlando hotel, but this tip is exclusively for Universal Orlando hotel guests. Universal Orlando hotel guests can get early admission to Epic Universe and can enter the park one hour before it opens. Not only does that mean you’ll get less lines for popular rides. But it also means it won’t be as hot since it’s earlier in the day. Once again, here are some tips to save money on Universal hotels.
