Halloween 2022 is quickly approaching, and that means it is time to attend the SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular once again!

SeaWorld theme park in San Diego, California has a wonderful celebration going every year for Halloween.  The Halloween Spooktacular is a great event that families with children of all ages can enjoy.  If you are looking for a scarier event that is more aimed for older teens and adults, then check out our SeaWorld San Diego Howl-O-Scream Guide.

My family has attended the Halloween Spooktacular in San Diego in the past and we had a wonderful time.  It takes place on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).  This year, it starts back on September 17th and runs through Halloween (the only Monday of Halloween Spooktacular).

I want to tell you all the fun activities you can enjoy here.  And then I’ll tell you how you can save money on your tickets!

Trick-Or-Treating

Looking for a fun place to trick-or-treat this year?  Then look no further than SeaWorld San Diego!  I really love trick-or-treating at a theme park.  It is a fun, safe way to enjoy all the fun of trick-or-treating.  Trick-or-treating takes place from 12:00 PM to park closing.

Please note that in order to participate in trick-or-treating, you must use a SeaWorld reusable trick-or-treating bag.  You can purchase them for just $3.99 at any retail location throughout the park.  You can get a discount on this price, too, if you are a SeaWorld annual pass member.

Halloween Costumes

One fun thing about the event is that you can wear a Halloween costume to the event!  This includes children and children at heart!

Please note, however, that guests who are ages 13 and older may not wear costume masks or hoods.  Face painting is also not permitted on any guests unless it takes place at the park by park artists.  Also, all costumes are still subject to the normal dress code for the park.

Dia de los Muertos

This is my favorite part of SeaWorld San Diego’s Halloween celebration!  See, the Halloween Spooktacular doesn’t just celebrate Halloween, but it also celebrates the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos, too.  Their Dia de los Muertos celebrates features gigantic, beautifully dressed Catrina statues and ofrendas (offerings) of mementos and flowers honoring loved ones who have passed away.

Spooktacular Pumpkin Hunt

One Halloween activity I always liked as a child was a good pumpkin hunt.  So I am glad that is included in the Halloween Spooktacular event.

How it works is that you buy a Spooktacular Pumpkin Hunt Map at the SeaWorld Store.  You use it to track down SeaWorld and Halloween-inspired painted pumpkins.  Once you have completed your map, you can redeem it at The SeaWorld Store for a special prize!

Hay Maze

Another fun activity at fall is a hay maze.  And there is a hay maze at SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular.  It even has guest appearances from fun fall characters along the way!

Halloween Dance Party

One thing I love about SeaWorld celebrations are the dance parties!  The Halloween Spooktacular dance party features a cast of fun costumed characters, Halloween-themed songs, and family-friendly games like freeze dance, limbo, and more!

Meet a Mermaid

And finally, you can even meet a mermaid at SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular!  This is an immersive experience along the Trick-or-Treat Trail.

Discounted Halloween Spooktacular Tickets

One great thing about SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular celebration is that since it is during regular park hours, it is included in the cost of admission!  That means it is included in an annual pass or fun card.  You can also get it with a general admission ticket, and you can purchase a discounted ticket to SeaWorld here.  They have a great deal going on right now where you can get a free child’s ticket along with a paid adult, so you’ll want to take advantage of that!
