In this guide to the Isle of Berk at Epic Universe, you’ll learn about the rides, entertainment, restaurants, and places to shop in the area.
You see, the newest park at Universal Orlando, Epic Universe, is divided into five different sections. And one of those sections, the Isle of Berk, is themed completely to How to Train Your Dragon! When you enter the park, head to the right and look for the portal entrance. There are three other portal entrances to other lands, but none of them are dragon themed like this one.
The Isle of Berk section is a great place to visit if you’re a fan of the How to Train Your Dragon movie franchise. But even if you’ve never seen the movies, you can still enjoy the fun theming and great attractions. Speaking of which…
Rides & Attractions
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
- Encounter Hiccup and Toothless on Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, a fun roller coaster.

- Height Requirement: At least 40” (102 cm)

Dragon Racer’s Rally
- On Dragon Racer’s Rally, you’ll ride a Viking-made dragon-riding trainer and twist and turn high up in the air.

- Height Requirement: At least 48″ (122 cm)

Fyre Drill
- While riding a Viking ship, you’ll get the chance to blast water cannons at flame-like targets and at other boats.
- Attraction Type: Water Ride, Kid Friendly
- Height Requirement: No Minimum Height
- Kids under 48″ must have a Supervising Companion accompanying them
- No hand-held infants allowed

Viking Training Camp
- Kids can burn off excess energy at this interactive playground.

The Untrainable Dragon
- This family-friendly live show combines music, humor and special effects… all inside an air-conditioned theater!

- Hiccup and Toothless (at the Haddock Paddock, located to the right of The Untrainable Dragon and the store Toothless’ Treasures near Fyre Drill)

Dining

Mead Hall
- This large restaurant features meat, fish, desserts, meads, ciders, and ales.

Where to Stay
If visiting the Isle of Berk is your top reason for your Epic Universe trip, consider staying in a kids’ suite themed to How to Train Your Dragon! The 545 square foot room has a separate children’s room with two twin beds. And, of course, it’s full of How to Train Your Dragon decor! You’ll find this whimsical suite at Universal Helios Grand Hotel, which is right next to Epic Universe and even has its own dedicated entrance.
Otherwise, the two closest hotels to the park are Stella Nova and Terra Luna. They are both within walking distance of Epic Universe, though Stella Nova is much closer and has a walkway.
