CHE – Canadian Halal Exhibition – is coming to the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. This will be happening on June 14 and 15, 2025, from 2 pm to 10 pm. The Exhibition will be a celebration of halal food, culture and entrepreneurship. This is open to the public and admission is free!
Halal
Halal means “lawful” or “permissible” in Arabic. Halal food is food that is allowed under Islamic dietary laws. Halal food includes meat slaughtered according to Islamic law, fish, fruits, vegetables, grains and any food free from non-halal ingredients like pork or alcohol.
Haram
Haram refers to prohibited substances. Pork and its by products are strictly forbidden. Alcohol and other intoxicants are also prohibited. Dead animals not slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines are forbidden as are carnivores, like lions, or birds of prey with talons per WebMD.
That leaves a lot of delicious halal food! Examples of popular halal dishes include shawarma, falafel, biryani, hummus, kebabs and tagine.
The Canadian Halal Exhibition will have more than 20 halal food vendors, so be sure to come hungry! You can enjoy both fusion and traditional halal dishes. You’ll find unique items at their one of a kind marketplace featuring lifestyle brands, small businesses and crafters. There will be rides, games and immersive zones.
