My family loves visiting Colonial Williamsburg at Christmas Time. I suspect your family will, too, because Colonial Williamsburg has special decorations & events you can’t get during the rest of the year.
Want more convincing? Then let these eight reasons help make up your mind!
1. Christmas Decorations
There are beautiful holiday decorations through Colonial Williamsburg and, in true Colonial Williamsburg, they fit the era. They are also nice touches that do not overwhelm the area; the charm of Colonial Williamsburg is still there and you can enjoy the exhibits the way you normally would, it is just very pretty to see wreaths here and there as well as other decorations.
Just check out this video we took a couple of years ago:
2. Liberty Ice Pavilion
Enjoy an iconic holiday season by ice skating at Liberty Ice Pavilion! It costs $16 for adults and $14 for children (ages 3 to 12).
3. Of Christmas Past
Watch a British servant who recently arrived in the colony reflect on his holiday customs, traditions, and celebrations.
This takes place at the Governor’s Palace East Advance.
You will need a Colonial Williamsburg ticket and a $5 ticket.
4. Williamsburg Christmas Market Vendors
Did you know that Williamsburg has its very own European-Style Christmas Market? You can find it over on Court Street next to Bicentennial Park and behind the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg. Admission is free for student and children and $5 for adults ages 18 years old and up.
It takes place Thursday through Sunday through December 21, 2025. It takes place at the following times:
- Thursdays: 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
- Fridays: 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
- Saturdays: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm
- Sundays: 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
There will be 40 vendor chalets. So you can get in some great Christmas shopping! You’ll also be able to try gluhwein, craft beer, and delicious market food.
5. Photos with Santa
Included in the cost of your Williamsburg Christmas market ticket is photo opportunities with Santa Claus!
6. Petting Zoo
Also included in the cost of your ticket is admission to a petting zoo.
7. Train Ride
Additionally, you can get a train ride as part of your ticket!
8. Holiday Carolers
Enjoy strolling Carolers at Merchant Square as you shop this holiday season.
This takes place on the upcoming dates:
- Friday, December 19th
- Saturday, December 20th
- Monday, December 22nd
