Jack the Ripper is officially linked to the murders of 5 women in London’s Whitechapel. They were
- Mary Ann Nichols – Found August 31, 1888
- Annie Chapman – Found September 8, 1888
- Elizabeth Stride – Found September 30, 1888
- Catherine Eddowes – Found September 30, 1888
- Mary Jane Kelly – Found November 9, 1888
These 5 victims are grouped together because of a common pattern of violence and mutilation. There were other murders in Whitechapel that fall but none matched Jack the Ripper’s modus operandi.
The name “Jack the Ripper” came from a letter, believed to be a hoax, sent to a news agency and signed “Jack the Ripper.” The name certainly fit.
You’ll hear about the suspects in this case. You’ll get the facts and you can decide for yourself who you think it might be.
“Who dunnit” may be the biggest question but there are so many others. Why did the killings stop when they did? Did he die or move? Was he imprisoned for something else? Maybe he almost got caught after the last murder and that scared him into stopping.
And why after 130+ years are people still mesmerized by this story? The press really pushed the story at the time but why, after all these decades, does Jack the Ripper gets more and more attention?
On the tour, you’ll be informed. You’ll learn a lot about the murders and Whitechapel in 1888. You’ll be horrified but thrilled by the fascinating story you’ll hear.
