How to island hop in Greece on a budget

It’s no secret that the Greek islands are some of the most beautiful islands in the entire world.  Getting to visit these amazing islands is a dream for a lot of travelers.  But like anything good in life, it does cost you.  So the question is, there is any way to do Greek island hopping on a budget?  And the answer is, there is.

Day 1: Arrive at Athens

Day one is spent arriving at your hotel and taking in the city.  There is a group dinner this night, too.

Day 2: Athens

In the morning, a local guide takes you on a guided city tour of Athens.  This includes the iconic Acropolis & Olympic Stadium.  In the evening you’ll visit the famous Plaka area of Athens.

Day 3: Athens to Mykonos

After getting a good night sleep in your hotel in Athens, you will take a boat ride across the Aegean Sea to Mykonos, where you’ll be spending the next three nights.

Day 4: Mykonos

You get the whole day to explore Mykonos the way you want!  If you’d like, you can add on a private cruise along the southern coast of Mykonos with swim stops & a picnic.

Day 5: Mykonos

Today, you’ll get to see Mykonos’ traditional Cycladic buildings.  You can a guided tour of ancient Delos to your travel itinerary this day.  Delos is one of the most important histocial, mythological, and archaeological sites in Greece.

Day 6: Mykonos to Santorini

You’re back on the sea today and you’ll arrive in Santorini!  You’ll get to visit Fira, Santorini’s clifftop capital.

Day 7: Santorini

Today is your day to explore beautiful Santorini!  You can take a swim at Perissa Beach.  When you get hungry, you can domatokeftedes, a local specialty of fried tomato balls.  You can also roam the streets of Fira.

You can also add a volcano cruise along to your trip.  This cruise includes a crater hike and hot springs.

Day 8: Santorini

Didn’t get to see all of Santorini on day 7?  Well, that’s what day 8 is for!  Just make sure that in the evening, you can enjoy the famous Oia sunset.

Day 9: Santorini to Ios

You’ll be traveling from Santorini to Ios this day.  Ios is a nice change of scenery from Mykonos and Santorini, as it is a bit more rugged and remote.

Day 10: Ios

Another great day to frolic in the sands of a Greek Island!  This is a great day to take in watersports, too.  You can add a Speedboat safari to your trip this day.  You can also explore the town and try the cooking at the local cafes.

Day 11: Ios

Didn’t get in everything you wanted to do in Ios on Day 10?  Well, that is what Day 11 is for!  Or you can just relax at the pool and beach all day!  There’s also a Farewell to Ios Evening Cruise you can add on to your trip.

Day 12: Ios to Athens

Sadly, the island hopping must come to an end!  This day is spend tearing you away from Ios and back to Athens, where you’ll have one more night to hang out with your new friends.

Day 13: Depart Athens
