It’s time to celebrate midsummer at Trumbull County Fairgrounds in Cortland, Ohio near Youngstown when you attend the Ohio Viking Festival!
It makes sense to celebrate Midsummer at a Viking Festival. After all, Midsummer was when the Vikings would meet and discuss legal matters and resolve disputes regarding the Summer Solstice. So naturally at this festival, they’ll have a Swordmaster’s Challenge arena where you can bring your clan and try to resolve disputes!
But that’s not all they have here. It starts off with the Midsummer’s Blot Celebration on Friday, June 23rd, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. That’s when you can enjoy a torch-lighting ceremony and a celebration at the God’s Garden.
After the Midsummer’s Blot Celebration, you can enjoy the regular festivities at the Ohio Viking Festival. It takes place on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, and Sunday, June 25th, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
There are lots of fun activities planned for the festival.
Viking Camps
Visit several camps located throughout the festival where you can learn about what life was like around the year 1000.
Live Demonstrations
Unique artisans will demonstrate how things are made in demonstrations from everything from tanning hides to blacksmithing.
Full Combat Fighting
See full steel combat, brought to you by Vulksgaard Viking!
Sword Master’s Challenge
Test your strength with the Ohio Viking Festival’s swordmaster. You can also battle against your friends in the arena.
Mead Making Classes
Enjoy two classes a day, brought to you by Three Sips Brewing. There is both a Basic Mead Making and Advanced Mead Making class. There’s even an additional Bee Keeping class.
Ginger Ackley
Enjoy Celtic and American Folk Music with great autoharp, whistles, and vocals. Original songs will be performed. There will also be children’s stories and music.
Captain John Stout
Enjoy great music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, Canada, and Australia.
