HallowBOO! is a family-friendly Halloween-themed fall festival at Idlewild theme park in Western Pennsylvania. Save money on admission with a discount ticket.
So when can families visit HallowBOO? Well, it takes place

- 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- September 12, 2026, through October 26, 2025
The event includes a lot of fun activities that I want to tell you about. And then I’ll tell you how you can save money on a ticket!
Trick-Or-Treat Trail
Looking for a safe place for your child to trick-or-treat this year? Well, kids can walk through the trick-or-treat trail through Story Book Forest, where they’ll get candy from all of their Story Book friends (such as Mother Goose, Little Red Riding Hood, and the Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe).
It is actually one of the longest trick-or-treating trails in Pennsylvania, too. And you can enjoy the beautiful Western Pennsylvania fall foliage as you walk along the trail.
All children ages 12 years old and younger can participate. Treat bags are even provided, as long as supplies last. You can also bring your own.
Kids are welcome and encouraged to wear their Halloween costume, too! And by the way, if your child does want to wear a costume and doesn’t have one yet, check out the Halloween costumes available here.
Please note, however, that the entrance to the trail closes at 5:30 PM, so make sure you do this activity before then!
The Legend of Lady Loyalhanna
This ride gets a Halloween twist during HallowBOO! Not only is the train decorated for the season. But when you journey through the woodlands along the Loyalhanna Creek, you’ll see seasonal sights like glowing pumpkins, mysterious candy corn, and whimsical creatures. Plus, you’ll learn about the legend of Lady Loyalhanna and Fisherman Frank!
Fisherman Frank’s Crooked Cabin
After you take the Legend of Lady Loyalhanna train ride, you can step inside Frank’s topsy-turvy home. His home is full of curious sights and illusions, plus plenty of family fun!

Head to the E Pavilion Area at 4:00 PM for a foam party filled with of course plenty of foam, plus music and dancing!
And if the weather is too chilly for foam, you can instead experience a Bubble Blast Dance Party where there’s still music and dancing, but this time plenty of bubbles!
Mystic Wilds Jungle Maze
Mystic Wilds is a Halloween-themed jungle maze through a foggy mist where you can also keep your eyes peeled for jungle creatures.
Laser Swamp
Before you go to the Mystic Wilds Jungle Maze, you’ll have to make your way through the Laser Swamp which features lights and sounds that seemingly from another world…
Castle Creatures Monster Party
This fun dance party takes place twice a day (4:30 and 5:30) at the Hillside Theater.
This dance party has it all, too:
- A backstory of maniacal lab geeks creating monsters
- Furry creatures sharing science lessons
- Colorful puppetry
- Crowd participation
- Dancing
- A dragon conga line
- And more!
Daniel Tiger’s Grr-ific Day!
This show stars Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat. There are three showings (12:30 PM, 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM) daily at Raccoon Lagoon.
Grigsby’s Trunk of Giggles
Grisby is a quirky, charming blue monster with a squeaky voice and an unintelligible language. You can meet him where he lives (a strange wooden trunk) – just be prepared to giggle along with him!
Spookley the Square Pumpkin
Meet this larger-than-life pumpkin at a meet and greet.
Before that, enjoy storytime with the story of The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin. This is a story about celebrating inclusion, kindness, and acceptance.
It takes place at the following times:
