Labor Day weekend is quickly approaching, and you are quite lucky if you are planning on visiting Philadelphia then.  There are a lot of fun things to do around Philadelphia during Labor Day weekend.  I’ll tell you about all the fun activities here.  And for some, I’ll tell you how you can save money there!

But hurry – a lot of these ticketed events are selling out fast!  So buy your tickets ASAP!

1. Made in America Festival

Made In America Festival is one of the premier events of the Labor Day Weekend in Philadelphia.  It is a massive two-day music festival created by hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.  It is held at Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

2. Labor Day Weekend Dinner Cruise

Since Philadelphia is on the water, it is fitting to enjoy a Labor Day cruise while in Philadelphia during Labor Day.  On this Labor Day Weekend Dinner Cruise, you can enjoy buffet-style dining while viewing the sunset on the harbor.  You also get incredible city skyline views.  The yacht holds about 500 people so it is a great way to meet new people.  It also makes a great date night or night out with friends.  There will be a DJ and a dance floor onboard, too.  Alcoholic drinks are also available for purchase.

3. Patty Jackson’s Party in the Park

Popular Philadelphia radio personality Patty Jackson is hosting her annual Party in the Park once again.  It takes place at the Dell Music Center on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at 7:00 PM.  You can enjoy performances by Stephanie Mills, Tony Toni Tone, and Freddie Jackson.

4. Sesame Place

Sesame Place is a great place to visit if you have young kids.  They have a great Labor Day event on Labor Day weekend on Saturday and Sunday.  During these days, you can get a photo with Elmo while he’s wearing patriotic gear.  Also as part of the festivities, on Sunday, September 4th, 2022, they have a “C is for Celebrate” fireworks display at 8:00 PM.

5. Summerfest

Have you been to Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest yet?  It takes place at Penn’s Landing, on Columbus Boulevard at Market Street.  It has a carnival-like atmosphere with midway games, rides, a roller skating rink, miniature golf, an arcade, and more.  Adults and kids can have a lot of fun here.

6. Philadelphia/West Chester KOA Holiday

7. Labor Day Volksfest

Come celebrate the 150th anniversary of Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein, the oldest and largest German-American club in Philadelphia.  They’re hosting their annual Labor Day Volkfest from Saturday, September 3rd through Monday, September 5th.  You can enjoy German food and music here.  Find out more information here.

8. Red Hot Chili Peppers Concert

Philadelphia has hosted a lot of great concerts.  Labor Day Weekend should be no different.  In addition to the other concerts mentioned, there is a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert that also features the Strokes & Thundercat.  It takes place on Saturday.  You can get tickets to this concert here.

9. Broadway4Forever’s Ultimate Broadway Brochure

On Saturday, September 3d, City Winery Philadelphia presents Broadway4Forever’s Ultimate Broadway Brochure.  It is a night of songs and selections from Broadway’s most notable shows.  Popular Philadelphia Drag Queens Cookie Diorio and Ronnie Marie host this event.  You can click here to get a ticket to this event.

10. Party on the Pier

And finally, let me end by telling you about what Rivers Casino Philadelphia has in store this Labor Day Weekend!  Party on the Pier takes place on Sunday, September 4th, 2022.

The night begins at 6:00 PM.  A live DJ will be playing.  There are a lot of fun things for kids and adults to enjoy.  There are family-friendly games like corn hole, pong, Connect 4, and Jenga.  There’s also face painting, balloon artists, and more.

And if you get hungry, check out the food trucks present at the event.  Participating food trucks include Smoke Break BBQ, Cousins Maine Lobster, Southern Style Seafood, Rita’s Italian Ice, and more.

At 7:30 PM, you can enjoy the Ultimate Donna Summer Tribute, as performed by Rainere Martin.

And at 9:00 PM, you can enjoy an amazing fireworks display above the Delaware River.
