Recently I had the pleasure of taking the Ghost and Gravestones Tour of St. Augustine, Florida and I had a great time!  The tour has a wonderful mix of being scared and humorous parts, which is great because I wanted to get spooked but not be completely terrified the whole time.

You board the bus and then there are a few stops during the tour.  A really neat thing about this tour is it gives you a great chance to see St. Augustine at night and see top St. Augustine attractions after they close.

Some of the places we visited were:

  • The Huguenot Cemetery, one of the most haunted spots in St. Augustine, where you’ll hear a lot of great ghost stories
  • The Old Drugstore – under which Chief Tolomato was buried (and he naturally haunts it now)
  • Potter’s Wax Museum, where you’ll get to learn about old pirate tales in the Chamber of Horrors
  • The Old Jail, where you will learn about the hangings there

While you drive, you hear a lot of stories on the way and haunted places are pointed out.  The tour included great actors and there are even interactive aspects of the tour.  I think it’s too spooky for young children, but older kids could probably handle it, and of course that all depends on your child.

But I highly recommend it if you enjoy ghost stories, fun and the history of St. Augustine – and if you do take this tour, make sure you buy your ticket through here so you can save money.
