Arizona Science Center is a place that is both educational and fun. It is a great place adults and children can enjoy while learning something new. It is conveniently located in downtown Phoenix.
I want to tell you about some of the great permanent exhibits here and an exciting temporary exhibit. And then I will tell you how you can save money on your ticket!
All About Me
It’s time you learned about someone very important – you! You get to learn about how your body works and functions in the All About Me exhibit.
You’ll learn about lots of body parts. Want to know about the heart? Well, you can test your heart muscles in the Wheelchair Racers. You can hear your actual heartbeat as it is translated into sound on a bass drum. You can even watch surgeries being performed in the Heart Surgery Theater. These surgeries feature the techniques of Dr. Edward B. Diethrich.
Another part of your body you can learn a lot about is the stomach. You get up close and personal with the stomach. And by that I mean you can walk through a large replica of a “working” stomach. It features the sights, sounds, and smells of the digestive process.
Additionally, you can learn about the systems of the human body here. This includes everything from cardio and pulmonary to defense and immunity to digestive and skeletal.
There are also live science demonstrations in the Daniel Cracchiolo Theater.
The W.O.N.D.E.R. Center
If you wondered whether or not the brain is part of the body that is covered in the Arizona Science Center, then wonder no more. Because it is, in the W.O.N.D.E.R Center. This is otherwise known as the Walton Optimal Neurological Discovery Education and Research Center.
Here you get to examine all parts of the brain, including its anatomy, development, neuroscience, and thought.
You get to see a human brain in the W.O.N.D.E.R. Center. In addition to seeing an actual human brain, you get see a touchable brain model. This model simulates the size, weight, and texture of a real, actual brain.
You also get a chance to compare the brains of different animal species.
Flight Zone
Flight Zone is a permanent exhibit located on Level 1. It is an extension of The Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation Gallery.
This is where you can learn about Arizona’s flight history.
There are also a lot of fun interactive activities. Several hands-on exhibits let you venture into the field of aeronautics.
You can become an engineer without all the years of school. You get to imagine, plan, create & even improve helicopter and airplane designs.
Another fun activity is that you can climb into the fuselage of an actual airplane. And you can venture into the field of aeronautics as you explore the forces and principles of flight through several exciting hands-on exhibits.

Forces of Nature
Forces of Nature is a great way to see the earth in a whole new way.
Immersion Theater
Here you can feel like you are in the middle of a tornado, hurricane, volcanic eruption, monsoon, or wildfire at the same time. It is a five-minute show that happens every 15 minutes.
Magic Planet
This is a great place to learn about the weather. This is where you see the planet’s last six weeks of weather patterns. You also learn about the cloud and air patterns that create major storms around the world.
Stardust Faces of Science
This is where you get to actually meet three scientists, all of whom have ties to Arizona. You can converse with a volcanologist, a hydrologist, and a meteorologist. They talk about what they do, tell you about real-life tools they use in their field of expertise, and tell you why their work is important to the rest of the world.
My Digital World
This is a museum exhibit where you don’t have to worry about breaking some important historic artifact. This exhibit is entirely digital.
You can use pixels to create digital art at Wrap Your Image. The Harkins Ham Shack teaches you about the most reliable line of communication. And you can learn about how the digital world and physics intermingle with Virtual Sand.
Get Charged Up
There are a lot of fun activities that help you understand the world you at Get Charged Up. This includes:
- Bed of Nails
- Pulley Power
- Giant Lever
- Color Mixing
- Electromagnetic Workbench
- Electric Circuits
Solarville
This is where you learn about renewable energy from all over the world. You’ll get to actually walk through scientific labs that study the sun. You’ll learn how scientists harness and distribute sustainable green energy from algae, alternative fuels, and, yes, even poop. There are interactive features of this exhibit, too, where you can help develop wind engine turbines and invent new garbage waste systems.
Evans Family SkyCycle Page
Learn about the center of gravity & the principles of counterbalance when you are suspended nearly 15 feet in the air while taking a ride on the 90-foot cable. Please note additional fees do apply for this activity.
Making Sense of Your Dollar and Cents
This is an exhibit presented by JPMorgan Chase & Company. It is located on Level 1. It introduces both children and adults to important aspects in finance like:
- Budgeting
- The importance of savings
- Managing accounts
- Math
Survival of the Slowest
Survival of the Slowest is a temporary exhibit. This exhibit started back on February 5th, 2022. It runs through August 7th, 2022. It is located in the Sybil B. Harrington Gallery in Level 3.
The Survival of the Slowest exhibition is a wonderful examination of the slowest species of the world. They examine how these slow animals have used their disadvantages to help them not only survive but even thrive, despite being in a world where faster, larger, and stronger animals often top the food chain. You’ll learn neat facts, like the unique ways they hide from predators.
You also get to see these amazing creatures up close. There are daily presentations featuring a live sloth, iguana, hedgehog, and more.
