The Delfonics are a Philadelphia R&B/Soul group. They topped the charts in the late 1960s and the early 1970s. The Delfonics were considered one of the first “silky and sweet” soul groups with their soft and lush male vocal harmonies. Their greatest hits include “La-La-Means I Love You,” “Ready Or Not Here I Come,” “Didn’t I,” “I’m Sorry” and “Break Your Promise.”
The Blue Notes
The Blue Notes were a Soul vocal group from Philadelphia. Although the original lead singer Harold Melville received top billing, their most famous member was Teddy Pendergrass. The Blue Notes was one of the most popular Philadelphia soul groups in the 1970s. Their greatest hits include “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” “The Love I Lost,” “Wake Up Everybody,” and “Bad Luck.”
The Stylistics
The Stylistics are an R&B/soul group from Philadelphia. Airrion Love, Jason Sharp, “Bo” Henderson and Herbert Murrell make up the group. Their hits include “Betcha By Golly Wow,” “You’re A Big Girl Now,” “Stand, Look, Listen To Your Heart” and “You Are Everything.”
The Manhattans
The Manhattans are a Grammy Award winning R&B/soul group with Gerald Alston as their lead singer. They had 25 top 40 R&B hits. Their greatest hits include “Let’s Kiss & Say Goodbye,” “I Wanna Be (Your Everything),” “Shining Star,” “There’s No Me Without You” and “Don’t Take Your Love.”
Peaches & Herb
Peaches & Herb are an R&B/soul duo. Herb Fame has been Herb since they started in 1966. There have been several Peaches with Wanda Makle having been the current Peaches for years. Their hits include “Close Your Eyes,” “For Your Love,” “Love Is Strange,” “Shake Your Groove Thing” and “Reunited.”
Jimmie JJ Walker
Jimmie JJ Walker is an actor and comedian who starred in “Good Times” in the 1970s. Since then, he’s made appearances on television shows and worked as a comedian.\
