Margaritas are the most popular cocktails in the United States. They have been the most popular for years.

Some people believe the bartender at the historic Balinese Room in Galveston created the first margarita for singer Peggy Lee in 1948 because she liked tequila. Others believe a socialite in Acapulco created the drink for Nick Hilton, founder of the Hilton Hotel chain, in 1948. It is also said that a bartender at Tommy’s Place, a bar in Juarez, Mexico, invented the margarita in 1942. However, the recipe for a margarita (without the salt) was published in the “Cafe Royal Cocktail Book” in London in 1937, so it’s unlikely any of the 1940s stories are true.

A traditional margarita is made with tequila, orange liqueur and freshly squeezed lime juice. Some recipes include a simple syrup. The three main ways to serve a margarita are straight up, on the rocks or frozen. The margarita glass is usually rimmed with salt. Some people rim it with sugar.

The Scottsdale Margarita Fest is coming to Wasted Grain on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 2 pm to 5 pm. This will be the place to enjoy this Mexican favorite.

Your ticket will include 12 margarita tastings. Try your favorites and also try some new margaritas. You can compare notes with other margarita enthusiasts. You might just find a new favorite.

Imagine being with your best friends, laughing and talking and sipping on margaritas. Now doesn’t that sound like fun? That’s because it is! And you can do that and more at the 2023 Margarita Fest.

Wasted Grain is a popular nightclub on East Station Drive in Scottsdale. It features a dance floor, open concert area and an upscale lounge plus three bars. Should all the margaritas make you thirsty, their menu includes quesadillas, carnitas, sliders and more.
