The Feast of San Gennaro is a celebration of faith in honor of the Patron Saint of Naples, Italy
San Gennaro was the Bishop of Benevento, Italy. He was arrested in the persecution by Emperor Diocletian. San Gennaro was tortured but he refused to denounce Christ. He was thrown into a furnace but somehow came out with no serious injuries. He was then beheaded.
San Gennaro is honored as Naples’ principal patron. Neopolitans pray to him for protection from fires, plagues, earthquakes, Mt. Vesuvius and droughts.
Many Neopolitans came to the United States in the late 1800s and brought their beliefs with them. Today, many descendants of these Neopolitans believe San Gennaro protects all Italians world wide.
Las Vegas celebrates the Feast of San Gennaro in the spring and then again in the fall. The Feast of San Gennaro will be coming to M Resort Spa & Casino in Henderson, Nevada, in the greater Las Vegas area. This will be happening on April 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27.
San Gennaro is the largest celebration of Italian food and music in honor of Saint Gennaro in the Las Vegas Valley. Come and experience a love affair with Italy. This fun filled event offers something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
Festival Hours
- Wednesday & Thursday, April 23 & 24 – 1 pm to 11 pm
- Friday, April 25 – 4 pm to 11 pm
- Saturday & Sunday, April 26 & 27 – 1 pm to 11 pm
Food
The Feast is a fun filled feature with over 70 international food vendors. A large array of delicious Italian food will be available for purchase. There will also be a wide range of ethnic food vendors. Traditional fair or festival food, including corn dogs, funnel cakes, popcorn, lemonade and more will also be available. The biggest decision you’ll have to make is what to eat next.
Entertainment
There will be live international musical acts from Italy and the Las Vegas Strip. The host of the entertainment will be Carmen Romano and Andy Dimino.
