This year, experience the most popular annual holiday tradition in Washington without all the hassle.  You won’t have to worry about figuring out transportation.  Instead, just purchase a trip from Seattle to Leavenworth for the Christmas Lighting Festival through Customized Tours!  Customized Tours will provide transportation to & from the Museum of Pop Culture to the Bavarian-themed village of Leavenworth.

You’ll go through the gorgeous Cascade Mountains to get to your destination of the Red Tail Canyon Farm.  That’s where you can add on a horse-drawn winter carriage ride!  It’s a custom-built sleigh pulled by Suffolk Draft, Belgian, or Percheron horses.  They take you through the trails, woods, fields, and beautiful snow-covered canyons.  After your carriage ride is over, you can pose for pictures with the horses or warm yourself up by the fire.

After the carriage ride, you get to enjoy the beautiful Leavenworth village!  Here you can:

  • Try delicious German food from street stands
  • Browse through Leavenworth’s quaint shops
  • Enjoy live entertainment
  • Watch your kids sled down a snowy hill (so you may want to bring a sled with you!)

Then, you’ll gather at dusk for the lighting ceremony on Saturdays & Sundays.  It is an amazing ceremony.  You get to see hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights turn on in one singular magical moment.  It really gets you in the Christmas spirit!

After that, you return back to Seattle!

Parking Lot

You will need to get to the Museum of Pop Culture so if you drive there, you’ll obviously need a place to park your car.  You can use the parking lot across the street from the MoPOP at 516 Harrison Street.  They’ve got 24-hour parking and you can pay for a 12-hour parking time slot which should work since you’ll be gone all day.  Entrances to the parking lot are on Harrison Street and Republican Street just east of 5th Avenue North.
