Old Faithful Geyser of California

Have you ever heard of the Old Faithful Geyser of California?  It is truly special because it is one of only three geysers in the world like it.  They are considered “Old Faithful” because of how dependably they erupt on schedule.

Yes, every thirty-minutes you can watch the geyser shoot in the sky in heights of up to 100 feet.  It is a truly remarkable experience.  And you can count on the geyser shooting up in these intervals.  And if it doesn’t, it gives you a spoiler alert of sorts of a future earthquake.  Because when the Old Faithful Geyser of California’s regular eruptions are ever delayed or diminished, an earthquake will likely happen within the next couple of weeks in the five hundred miles surrounding the geyser.

Old Faithful Geyser of California is located in Calistoga, California in the heart of the Napa Valley Wine Country.  And a neat thing about this Old Faithful Geyser is what you can do when the geyser isn’t erupting.

Onsite Activities

There is a picnic ground at the geyser site.  This means you can eat lunch while enjoying panoramic views of the Pacific Palisades and Mount Saint Helena.  You can eat a picnic table, under a cabana, or even on the grass.

Another fun thing to enjoy while you are not watching the water sprout up is the petting zoo.  Yes, there is an on-site petting zoo.  You can see guard llamas, Cameroon Dwarf Goats, and Jacob’s four-horned sheep.  You can also watch Tennessee Fainting Goats.  Those magnificent creatures were named for their tendency to fall over & fan themselves when startled.

You can also play a game of bocce at the Bocce Courts while you are waiting – and you can even see the Geyser explode in the background!  The Old Faithful Gardens feature beautiful plants that are native to the area.  The on-site Geology Museum teaches you about geysers, geothermal energy, earthquakes, our planet, and local history.
