Celebrate the Year of the Dragon! Tet Nguyen Dan, or Tet for short, is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year. This is considered the biggest and most popular celebration of their year.
The Vietnamese New Year falls on February 10, 2024, in the Gregorian Calendar. Tet is not only the transition moment between the old year and the new year. It is also a time for people to show respect to parents and ancestors and to reunite with their family.
The events and celebrations during Tet are in part designed to provide media exposure to local businesses in the “Little Saigon” of Sacramento. It is also designed for others in California’s capital to see and learn about Vietnamese culture, traditions, cuisine, performances and arts.
The celebration begins with the Little Saigon Tet Parade on February 10, 2024, at 9:30 am. You’ll hear the music from the marching bands and the roar of classic cars. You’ll see colorful floats, dancers and cultural performances.
The parade ends and the Lunar Flower Fest will begin. It will have a Vietnamese Food Festival, carnival games and rides, live performing arts, a flower show and a classic car show. 30,000 people are expected to be in attendance.
There will be a Lunar New Year Festival 2024, in Elk Grove, California, part of the greater Sacramento area. This will be happening on February 10 and 11, 2024, from 11 am to 8 pm. Admission is free and it is open to the public.
This is a cultural and family friendly event. There will be live entertainment with singers, musicians, dancers and more. Many of the top local food vendors will be there with delicious Vietnamese food, including pho’ and chung cake.

The Parkwood Casino Lotus’ Year of the Dragon Vietnamese Concert will be happening on February 13, 2024, at 8 pm.
You’ll see live performances from your favorite Vietnamese artists, including Hoang Hiep, Duong Trieu Vu, Pham Quynh and Ho Hoang Yen.
