Tour Itinerary
Your tour will begin at the Headquarters at Seaport District.
It was built in 1939 and is listed on The National Register of Historic Places. You can explore the fully restored eight cell jail block that’s housing historic photos and police memorabilia.
It is on La Punta De Los Muertos, aka Dead Men’s Point. It was the burial site of sailors. It’s been 245 years since the first burial of sailors there. Steam Ferry Berkeley
Steam Ferry Berkeley was built in 1898 and was the largest commuter ferry in the U.S. then, carrying up to 1,700 passengers. It carried passengers in San Francisco Bay for 60 years.
After the 1905 San Francisco earthquake, Berkeley worked to carry survivors to safety. For three days and nights, it saved thousands of survivors from the earthquake and subsequent fire. It was made a National Historic Landmark in 1990 and a California State Historic Landmark in 2000.
Visitors and staff have reported eerie voices echoing through empty cabins. Doors slam and phantom footsteps are heard when no one is there. There are sudden drops in temperature and shadowy apparitions linger near the lower decks.
