Wilderness at the Smokies Ice Skating
The Wilderness at the Smokies has a wonderful holiday tradition. Part of the wave pool is converted into a 3,200 square-foot ice skating rink! It is a wonderful way to have fun together with your family and friends in a fun, seasonal way.
The ice skating rink is decorated with holiday lights. In fact, the skating rink itself is actually part of a larger holiday celebration. I want to tell you about this holiday celebration before I tell you about a great discount ticket for the ice skating.

Santa Meet & Greet
What’s Christmas without Santa? You’ll be able to get your picture with Santa! You can find Santa in the Winter Wonderland or at Santa’s Workshop at the River Lodge lobby during scheduled appearance times.
Here are some upcoming dates and times:
- December 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, and 22
- 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
- December 23
- 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Santa’s Workshop
So you may be wondering what Santa’s Workshop at the River Lodge lobby is. Well, it is a place where kids can write and send their letters to Santa. There’s also a treat station.
Story Time with Mrs. Claus
Santa won’t be the only Claus at Wilderness at the Smokies this year! You can see Mrs. Claus on select dates. She will be reading holiday season-themed stories in Camp Social.
The story time lasts 30 minutes. It is available from 8:30 am to 10:30 am on the following upcoming dates:
- December 13th, 14th, 20th, and 21st
Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland at Soaky Mountain
Soaky Mountain Waterpark across the street from Wilderness at the Smokies is celebrating the holiday season with their Christmas Wonderland Light Display in it is parking lot at nights until January 5th. They also have a Snowy Mountain Village inside the waterpark with great features like:
- Seasonal lights
- Christmas trees
- Holiday inflatables
- Fire pits
- Holiday crafts for kids
- A train
- Rides
- An Elfie photo opportunity
- Food
- Desserts
- Visits with Santa

The first I will tell you about is for non-guests. If you are not staying at Wilderness at the Smokies, then buy your ticket here. You can save up to 35% on your ice rink admission, and the saving is automatic so no promo code or coupon code is needed.
But if you are staying at the resort, you won’t have to pay anything for ice skating. It is included in your nightly rate if you are staying between now and January 4th, 2026 (or January 9th through January 11th).
