Wilderness at the Smokies Ice Skating
The Wilderness at the Smokies has a wonderful holiday tradition. And even though it is 2020 and a number of other traditions have been canceled, this will continue! From November 13th through January 10th, part of the wave pool will be converted into a 3,200 square-foot ice skating rink! It is a wonderful way to have fun together with your family and friends in a safe, socially distanced manner.
The ice skating is even more special because of the atmosphere. While you skate, you can enjoy the hotel’s Christmas lights and holiday music. That is because the ice skating rink is part of a larger holiday celebration.
Wilderness at the Smokies Christmas
Yes, ice skating is part of the holiday celebration at the Wilderness at the Smokies. And there are a lot of other great activities that take place here at Christmas, too.
Santa Meet & Greet
What’s Christmas without Santa? Luckily, COVID-19 won’t stop you from meeting with Santa this year! Santa will sit with two decorated Christmas trees between his chair and the chair used for the child/children for photos. Additionally, plexiglass will be placed in between Santa and his young guests.
This is available on Saturday, November 28, December 5, 12, and 19 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Just head to the River Lodge Conference Center!
Not around when Santa is? Or does your child have even more they want to tell Santa? Well, there is a special mailbox for the North Pole by the River Lodge Conference Center. Your child can drop off completed letters to Santa there.
Story Time with Mrs. Claus
Santa won’t be the only Claus at Wilderness at the Smokies this year! You can see Mrs. Claus on Friday, November 27, December 4, 11, and 18 & then on Thursday, December 24 (Christmas Eve). She will be reading holiday season-themed stories at the River Lodge Conference Center. This takes place at 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, 7:00 PM, and 7:30 PM. They will limit the number of kids who can participate due to social distancing.
Children’s Activity Booklet
Guests at Wilderness at the Smokies will appreciate everything the hotel is doing to make this holiday special for the kids despite the worldwide pandemic going on. One of those things they are doing is providing children’s activity booklet for the youngest guests. From November 27th to December 24th, children will get a Christmas activity booklet when they check-in. It has a mascot coloring sheet, holiday word search, letter to Santa template, and a holiday maze along with a pack of crayons.
