In our Disney Boardwalk Christmas 2026 Guide, we tell you why you should stay at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort during a Disney World holiday season trip.
My family loves Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas any time of the year. We’ve talked before about the reasons we love this hotel. So we highly recommend staying at this hotel anytime of the year.
But it is particularly special during the holiday season. There are so many reasons that Disney’s Boardwalk Resort is the perfect choice for your family during the Christmas season. Today, we’re going to go over five of them.
Reason #1: Christmas Decorations
I love seeing the Christmas decorations at the Boardwalk. I love the huge Christmas tree outside the resort!
There’s also a beautiful Christmas tree indoors, too.
But that’s not all. They also have a great gingerbread display at Boardwalk!
You can find beautiful decorations throughout the resort, too.
It really gets you in the holiday spirit!
Reason #2: Christmas Treats
Where there is a gingerbread display, you know there are Christmas treats nearby! You can purchase some delicious Christmas treats.
You can also find some great Christmas treats over at the Boardwalk Deli. They have great treats all year, but at Christmastime, you can find some special holiday-themed treats.
Reason #3: Location
But perhaps one of the most special reasons why the Boardwalk Resort is great during the holiday season is its location. You are within walking distance of both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
Epcot is a wonderful place to visit during the holiday season. You can visit the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays (you can read more about it in our Festival of the Holidays Guide). This festival is a wonderful celebration of the season full of great festivities. Though perhaps the best part of the festival is the Candlelight Processional, which we go into detail about here.
That takes place over in the American Pavilion in the World Showcase. And the Boardwalk Resort is within walking distance of the World Showcase entrance of Epcot. If you don’t want to walk, to, you could take a boat, which I think is a much better mode of transportation than a bus.
You can also walk to Hollywood Studios, and that’s great because the holiday decorations at Hollywood Studios are wonderful.
There is also a really fun after hours party at Hollywood Studios called Jollywood Nights. It is one of my favorite Disney events; you can read more about it in our Jollywood Nights Guide.
If you go, I am sure you would love to be able to walk to and from the party. I was able to do that one year and I really loved it. It was nice not having to worry about taking the bus.
Reason #4: Christmas Shopping
One of the fun things about Boardwalk is that it is located around Disney’s Boardwalk, which is a great entertainment district with lots of dining and shopping.
In fact, we’ve talked before about some of the dining options, like Boardwalk Pizza and Boardwalk Ice Cream.
But the shopping is what is of particular interest during the holiday season. With all the shopping options, you could find that perfect gift for your friends and family!
Reason #5: Santa’s Dancing Lights Spectacular
Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resort are just a short walk away from the Boardwalk Resort. They have some great Christmas festivities going on, too. And one of those you can enjoy even as a guest at Boardwalk.
Just walk over to Swan and Dolphin and head to the fountains located on the causeway between the two hotels. And then you’ll see a musical light display every ten minutes! It really is beautiful.
