So breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. It gets me started the right way. And I love breakfast foods. So I love having a good breakfast during my Walt Disney World trips.
And it just so happens my family just got back from a Disney World trip. We were staying at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and we decided to check out The Wave of American Flavors for breakfast on our last day. We’ve stayed at the Contemporary Resort multiple times, but have never eaten there. So we took the monorail over to Contemporary for breakfast.
Immediately upon entering the restaurant, we noted how striking the appearance of the restaurant is. It’s incredibly attractive from the outside.
When we got inside, we were told they were running behind and they’d text me when they were ready. Luckily, this wasn’t too big of a problem for us since it was our last day. We had nothing else we needed to get to. And anyway, there are no fast passes right now.
During the wait, I did some shopping in the resort. This is great because I love the stores at Contemporary and I got a great Mandalorian shirt with Baby Yoda (sorry, I still think of him as Baby Yoda and not Grogu!). After not too long of a wait, I got a text that my table was ready so I went back to the restaurant. On the elevator, we even saw Donald Duck and Goofy who were headed to Chef Mickey!
When I entered the restaurant, I was struck by how attractive the inside was. They aren’t even necessarily my favorite colors, but I loved the design.
I think it really fits the Contemporary Resort theme, which I like. I also love how waves were represented throughout the restaurant. You can see waves in the chairs, the carpet, and the decor from the ceilings. These are the kind of touches that I have always felt made Disney World really stand out.
The service was a bit slow, but our waiter was incredibly nice and made up for that. He told us his favorites were the eggs benedicts options (regular eggs benedict and Floridian Eggs Benedict) and the sweet potato pancakes, which we already wanted. And these dishes did not disappoint. My mother had the eggs benedict and she doesn’t even normally like breakfast (which is so unlike me!). But she loved it.
Everyone at my table who had the sweet potato pancakes loved it, and that included me.
I loved the subtle sweet potato flavor throughout the pancakes. It came with Pecan-Honey Butter, which made the pancakes even better.
The bacon was good, too. There were Mickey waffles available that weren’t even on the menu, and my party liked that, too.
So we left full and happy.
This is definitely a restaurant we recommend if you want a good breakfast at Disney World. It is great if you are staying at the Contemporary Resort or Bay Lake Tower, obviously. But you can access it easily via the monorail from the Grand Floridian or from a boat from the Wilderness Lodge. Normally, you can get there via monorail from the Polynesian Resort but it is not currently running. You can take the monorail from the ticket & transportation center if you are staying at Polynesian since it is right beside the resort.
By the way, are you thinking of staying at the Contemporary Resort? We recommend staying at the Bay Lake Tower. It is part of the Contemporary Resort and you can book it at cheaper rates; we tell you how here. You can see Bay Lake Tower for yourself via this video:
