My family just came back from a trip to Beaufort, South Carolina. We had a wonderful time at Beaufort’s Water Festival. If you ever get a chance to go to this festival, we highly recommend it.
But aside from loving the festival, one of the takeaways from our trip was what a nice time we had at the hotel we stayed in. And that hotel is Comfort Suites!
Comfort Suites near MCAS Beaufort is a hotel in Beaufort, SC that is around fifteen minutes away from Historic Downtown Beaufort. It’s a bit farther from the Historic Downtown area (where the festival is) than other hotels like Hilton Garden Inn Beaufort, which we’ve stayed at in the past (you can see our review for that hotel here).
I didn’t feel that it was too far away at all, though, and the distance was never a problem. And one nice thing about the location is that it was a bit farther back from the main road so it was pretty quiet at night.
One of the reasons we did choose Comfort Suites near MCAS Beaufort was that it was hard to find an affordable hotel during the Water Festival with the amenities we wanted. We were surprised to find Comfort Suites Beaufort at such a reasonable price. You can get a good price for this hotel here. And it really is reasonably priced for all that you get. Which I will now get to!
Room
My favorite thing about our stay there was the room size. The room is incredibly spacious. There is a living room area with a comfortable sofa. And then our room had two queen beds. It is not a suite in the sense of having two separate rooms. But it is like two rooms space-wise.
I love that they had two queen beds. They were comfortable, too.
The guest room also had a small refrigerator and a microwave.
The bathroom was a good size, though the closet was a bit small and hard to use because they had a safe right in the middle of it.
But my biggest complaint about the room would have to be the television situation. Often in guest rooms like this, there are two televisions (one in the living room area and one in the bedroom). Or at the very least, you can easily move the TV so you can watch it in the living room like you can at the Comfort Suites in Bluffton. But you didn’t have this option, which was kind of disappointing. I would have liked to have a TV in the living room area so you could relax in the living room and watch TV and then retire to bed. On top of that, the TV wasn’t that large.
Luckily, in this stay, there was no say game I really wanted to watch (like when I came to Beaufort earlier this year during the NBA finals). So it was fine for our stay. But it is something to think about when you are booking a hotel for a trip to Beaufort.
Pool & Fitness Center
Perhaps my favorite feature of this hotel, though, is the pool. They have an indoor pool and boy was that ever needed when we were there. It was so hot outside and we got so hot walking around the Water Festival. When we came back to the room, I was burning up and it felt so good to put on my bathing suit, not have to worry about sunblock, and come jump in the pool. It is not the longest pool or the deepest pool (the deepest it gets is four feet). So don’t expect an Olympic size swimming pool. But it worked so well as a pool to cool off in.
They also have a hot tub. Normally, I appreciate this feature and use it, but again, it was so hot during our stay I did not want to voluntarily get hot again. But it’s great they have it.
One other great thing about the pool is the views. You have great views of the beautiful trees and nature outside. And it’s nice to look at that while you swim.
The hotel also has a fitness center, but it was not working when I was there. If you want to use it, hopefully, it will be working during your visit.
Breakfast
Another great feature of Comfort Suites near MCAS Beaufort is that they have a free breakfast for guests in the morning.
The free breakfast has a fairly decent selection including warm food. The best part for me is that they have two different waffle makers. I like that because it means you won’t get the long lines of free breakfasts with just one waffle maker, and if you’re making waffles for multiple family members it can save you time to have two waffle makers.
They also had multiple flavor options. When I was there, it was plain and banana nut. They also had multiple flavors of muffins which were clearly labeled (blueberry and chocolate), which I liked because honestly sometimes I have no idea what kind of muffins a hotel has.
But having said this, I wouldn’t say it was the most extensive free breakfast I have ever been to. So if you come here expecting a three-course breakfast, you will probably be disappointed. But for a free hotel breakfast, I thought it was good.
Pets
One thing I want to mention before I finish this review is that no pets are allowed at this hotel. This can be an advantage if you don’t want pets at your hotel if say you have an allergy or are worried about the extra noise at night. But if you do want a pet there, then you’ll need to look for another hotel, like Tru by Hilton (you can read our review for this hotel here).
Conclusion
Comfort Suites Near MCAS Beaufort is a great choice for a hotel if you’re visiting Beaufort, SC. It is surprisingly affordable for all the great features you get (like spacious rooms with a living room area and sofa, free breakfast, and an indoor pool). And it is even more affordable if you book your room here.
