I just got back from a wonderful vacation in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville is a fun city, and I would have probably enjoyed my trip regardless. But what made my trip even better was the hotel my family stayed in, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Asheville Tunnel Road.
I want to give you my honest review of my experience at this hotel. It was mostly positive, but I will tell you things I did not like about the hotel in this review as well.
Room
Let’s start by talking about one of the most important parts of a hotel stay, and that is your guest room.
The guest room we got was incredibly spacious. There was plenty of room for our stuff.
There was also plenty of room in the bathroom, which I have found is not always the case with hotel rooms. Sometimes the guest room itself is spacious, but the bathroom is small, or vice versa. But here, both the room itself and the bathroom were spacious.
The air conditioner also worked great in the room. It was hot and muggy in Asheville when we were there, but you wouldn’t know it from being in the room. The room got downright cold, which was a nice contrast to how hot this summer has been.
The guest room has features I like in a room, such as a mini fridge and a good-sized TV.
All of this is great, but the best part of the room is definitely the beds.
The beds were so comfortable! I hadn’t gotten a lot of sleep the night before, so when we got there, U just wanted to take a nap. The bed was so comfortable that my head hit the pillow and I fell asleep. The bed made it easy to sleep, even for someone with insomnia like myself.
Location
In addition to having wonderful guest rooms, the location of Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Asheville Tunnel Road is great. Everywhere we went in Asheville felt like a short drive.
And there are plenty of dining options all around the hotel. Firehouse Subs and Wingstop are a really short walk. Other restaurants are within walking distance or a short drive, including some of the fun and unique restaurants that give Asheville its fun charm.
But you won’t need to find a restaurant for breakfast, as you will see in my next point.
Breakfast
Another reason my family chose to stay at this hotel was that it offers a free breakfast. I love when hotels offer continental breakfasts. It really cuts down on your trip expenses.
Their breakfast was pretty good. I would not say the offerings were the best I have ever had. There were not, for example, non-dairy milk options for your cereal, which is one feature that makes me put a hotel in the top category for free breakfast.
But the selection is decent.
There were hot foods available like eggs, bacon, and omelettes. There were a couple of waffle makers. There was fruit and different pastries. There was frozen yogurt and cereal. The blueberry bagel I made myself was good.
Basically, the selection, while not the very best, is definitely enough for everyone in your family to find something good to eat for breakfast. And that makes the price of the hotel more worth it.
Price
Speaking of the price, the overall price of the hotel was a positive for me when booking the hotel. It is not one of the more expensive hotels in Asheville, yet you get a lot of features for that price. The hotel is even available right now at a discounted price here.
Indoor Pool
One of those great features that is available at this good price is the indoor pool.
An indoor pool is a wonderful feature. It makes your trip more weatherproof. Especially because it can get cold in Asheville in the winter, so it’s nice you can still go swimming. The indoor pool also has a hot tub, which I really like.
One note here, though: the pool is not particularly deep or big. So if you are hoping for an Olympic-size pool, you’re not getting it. It is not big enough that I would book this hotel for the sole purpose of getting the indoor pool. But coupled with the hotel’s other great features, it is a wonderful feature and makes staying here an even better decision.
Fitness Center
The hotel also had a pretty nice fitness center.
It has exercise equipment you’d expect at most hotels’ fitness centers.
But one feature I don’t always see is a designated space for yoga with a yoga mat and a mirror.
If you are hoping to do some yoga on your trip, this hotel is a great choice.
Business Center
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Asheville Tunnel Road also has a free business center with computers and a printer, which I like having and used during my stay.
Luggage Carts
One feature I did not like about this hotel was the luggage carts. They weren’t very big and did not hold my stuff very well; everything fell off the cart when I struggled to get it in the elevator. This is not a dealbreaker for me, but it is something you should know before you go.
Conclusion
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Asheville Tunnel Road is a wonderful hotel to visit if you are in Asheville. It is affordable but also has great features, like:
- Spacious rooms
- Comfortable beds
- Great location
- Indoor pool
- Free breakfast
Its negative features, such as an inconvenient cart, do not outweigh all the positives. So I recommend booking this hotel for an Asheville vacation. Especially if you book here for a discounted rate.
