Dollywood Harvest Festival

Learn about the autumn-themed, Halloween-themed fall festival at Dollywood theme park

It’s that time of year where you’re sad that summer is almost over, but then you remember fall is almost here.  And that means it’s time for the Dollywood Harvest Festival in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee!

This is my absolute favorite festival that goes on at the Dollywood theme park.  It is definitely worth a visit to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg just for this.

So you may have a few questions.  Like, when is this special festival?  The Dollywood Harvest Festival will take place from September 27, 2019, through November 2, 2019.  And why is the Harvest Festival at Dollywood so great?  Well, we’ll go over today what you’ll be in store for in 2019.  And we’ll tell you how to save money on tickets!

Great Pumpkin Luminights

A definitive guide to the Great Pumpkin Luminights at Dollywood theme park in Tennessee

The Great Pumpkin Luminights are my absolute favorite part of Dollywood.  You’ll be able to see thousands of carved and illuminated jack-o-lanterns in the Timber Canyon section of the park.  It truly is a spectacular experience that exceeded my expectations (which were high).  You can see pictures from the Great Pumpkin Luminights here:

Now, this video was made in 2017, and the Luminights just keep getting better and better.  So you’ll need to go for yourself to see just how great it has gotten!

A few things to note about this: it’s very popular.  And to see the beautiful display, there’s a pathway,  This pathway can get clogged up.  So if possible, consider going on a weekday.  And just know there might be a bit of a wait.  Trust me, it is more than worth it!

And here’s the cool, thing, too.  It’s grown so much beyond the amazing pumpkin scenes.  There are other great activities that are part of the Great Pumpkin Luminights, too:

Character Meet & Greet

Do you or your kids like posing with characters at theme parks?  Then get out your phone and get snapping because you can pose with characters at the Great Pumpkin Luminights.  Throughout the Wilderness Pass, you can pose with Harvey the Pumpkin, Vine Vinny and their fun friends.  This takes place at night from 4:00 to 9:00 PM.

Master Carvers

Ever wonder how these pumpkins can be created into such works of art?  Well, every day from 1:00 to 9:00 PM you’ll be able to see firsthand from carvers.  You can watch these talented carvers carve intricate designs like the pumpkins you’ll see as part of the Great Pumpkin Luminights.

Glow Face Painting

The pumpkins aren’t the only things that will be glowing at the Great Pumpkin Luminights!  You yourself can glow, too, if you participate in the glow face painting.

Specialty Foods

Eat pumpkin themed autumn food favorites at Great Pumpkin Luminights at Dollywood theme park

You’ll also be able to eat delicious foods that go perfectly with a pumpkin & autumn theme.  Here are some of the foods you’ll be able to get at Timber Canyon:

  • Pumpkin Funnel Cakes
  • Candy Corn Cotton Candy
  • Caramel Apple Sundaes
