2023 Guide to the Great Pumpkin Fest, a fall festival at Kings Dominion theme park in Doswell, Virginia

We’ve talked before about the great family Christmas celebration at Kings Dominion theme park in Doswell, Virginia.  But did you know they also have a great family-friendly Halloween celebration during the fall?  This Halloween event is called the Great Pumpkin Fest!

This Peanuts-themed fall celebration takes place entirely on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).  It starts on September 23, 2023, and it runs through October 29, 2023.

The Great Pumpkin Fest is a great way to enjoy some of the fun you do at Kings Dominion over the summer.

But there are other autumn-themed activities and shows happening at the park.  I want to tell you about them.  And then I’ll tell you how you can save money on a ticket!

The Great Pumpkin Fest Headquarters

You’ll want to start your day at the Great Pumpkin Fest Headquarters, which you’ll find at the Planet Snoopy Entrance.  Here, you’ll find a map showing where you can find all the activities.  You can also get a trick-or-treat bag.

Trick-or-Treating

You didn’t think they’d give out trick-or-treat bags without offering trick-or-treating, right?  Well, I suppose they could, but that would be quite mean.  But luckily, that is not the case here.  They have a Trick or Treat Trail throughout Planet Snoopy with eight different stations.

Franklin’s Scarecrow Hollow

Who doesn’t love a good hay maze during the fall season?  You can find a great one at Firehouse BBQ Patio, which is where you’ll find Franklin’s Scarecrow Hallow.

Sally’s Pumpkin Painting Patch

Another great thing about the fall season is the pumpkins!  And this festival has to have them since it’s called the Great Pumpkin Fest, right?

Well, you can go to Joe Cool’s Pit Stop for your chance to pick out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  Once you have picked out that perfect pumpkin, you can decorate it and take it home with you!

Charlie Brown’s Pirate Adventure

Charlie Brown’s Pirate Adventure is a great swashbuckling, pirate-themed show at PEANUTS Playhouse.

Character Meet & Treats

Charlie Brown, Snoopy and other beloved Peanuts characters will be dressed in their Halloween costumes.  Now you can go to PEANUTS Playhouse to come see them in their costumes!  It is a wonderful photo opportunity!

Ghostly Games

Midway games will be set up across from Snoopy Boutique.  You can try your luck and see if you can win a prize!

Magic with Jonathan Austin

Jonathan Austin will be strolling through Planet Snoopy performing some not-so-spooky magic tricks.

Van Pelt Derby

Kids can take a ride on a miniature tractor along a hay maze at Linus’ family farm by the Planet Snoopy Fountain.

Pig-Pen’s People Washer

You can find Pigpen’s People Washer near Snoopy’s Snack Shack.  Here, you can jump onto their gigantic box full of corn kernels, grab a corn cob, and then scrub up!
