It’s known as the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.” The Calgary Stampede 2024 is one of the largest rodeos. It has happened every year since 1912, except 2020 for the pandemic. It attracts over one million visitors from all over the world.
The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth will run from July 5 to July 14, 2024 at Stampede Calgary. We’ll tell you some of the best things to see. Then we’ll tell you how you can save money on the rodeo.
Stampede Parade
The Calgary Stampede Parade kicks off the rodeo. You’ll get a taste of what to expect. The parade consists of colorful floats, cowboys and cowgirls on horse back, all marching to the beat of a fantastic marching band.
The parade will be in downtown Calgary. You’ll need to get there early to get a good place to see the parade or else consider pre-booking bleacher seating along the route. The Parade Grand Marshall is Owen Crow Shoe from the Piikani Nation & Blood Tribe of the Blackfoot Confederacy.
Afternoon Rodeo Events
The Calgary Stampede features the best rodeo competitors and animals in the world. Every afternoon at 1:30 pm you can see cowgirls and cowboys face off in 6 different rodeo events, including bull riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, tie down racing, bareback riding and saddle bronc. Every win builds toward Showdown Sunday where competitors are looking to get their share of 1.5 million dollars in winnings.
Stampede Food
The food at Calgary Stampede, especially the barbecue, is delicious. The offer the usual midway fare as well as outrageous creations, including ketchup and mustard ice cream, neon colored hot dogs, Kool-aid chicken burger and peanut butter pickle hot dog.
The Showriders
The Showriders are a group of young equestrians who tour all over North America, doing routines and riding in parades. You’ll see them in the Stampede Parade and they’ll perform musical rides several times each day.
Chuckwagon Racing
The rodeo is home to the world’s premiere chuckwagon racing event. 162 horses and the best chuckwagon drivers come from all over the globe to compete. Each night there will be 9 chuckwagon races. They start at 7:45 pm and will be followed by the Bell Grandstand Show.
Bell Grandstand Show
Don’t miss this show, it’s always spectacular! You’ll see acrobatics, elaborate song and dance numbers and amazing fireworks! Performers include

Party At Nashville North

The Midway
The Calgary Stampede Midway has thrilling and family rides and beloved carnival games. Win a teddy bear! You’ll need coupons for the rides and games.
Calgary Stampede Powwow
The Calgary Stampede Powwow will be at the Scotiabank Saddledome on July 12 and 13, 2023, from noon to 6 pm. This is one of the biggest powwows in Canada! It features singing, dancing and other indigenous performances. It features the best from all over North America, competing for $175,000 in winnings.
Elbow River Camp
Elbow River Camp is an immersive experience of western heritage and indigenous culture. Local artisans will be selling bannock and saskatoon berry jams, jewelry and art. You can see traditional dancing and meat cutting competitions.

The Stampede Art Show
The Stampede Art Show began in the 1930s. It was one of the first art shows in western Canada. It will include the work of some of North America’s celebrated artists from a variety of genres.
The Western Oasis
The Western Oasis is a peaceful wine garden. Indulge in wine paired with a selection of cheeses, pasta and meats.
All Elite Wrestling
On July 15, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) top talent will compete. You don’t want to miss the chance to see this live.
