The official start of the holiday season in Toronto is the Cavalcade of Lights. It is a local favorite tradition and thousands of people come from far and wide to see the lighting of Toronto’s official Christmas tree. Located at Nathan Phillips Square, it has been an annual event since 1967.
The show features a huge Christmas tree, 525,000 glittering LED lights and an illuminated skating rink. The Cavalcade of Lights also features Canadian and international entertainers performing live on the stage. The evening ends with a spectacular fireworks display.
The Cavalcade of Lights will be held on November 25, 2023. It is a month long exhibit and the lights will stay on every night until 11 pm.
Holiday Magic is returning to Bloor-Yorkville on November 25, 2023, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The tree lighting ceremony will take place on Cumberland Street and at the Village of Yorkville Park. 138 trees along Bloor Street will be festively decorated with lights to illuminate the neighborhood. You can also enjoy 60 Urban Campfire benches that light up in holiday colors when in use.
There will also be a free outdoor concert with performances from Matt Dusk, Barbara Lica and Keshia Charte. Toronto based musician Jeremie Albino will kick off the entertainment follow by Chantal Kreviazuk singing hits from her holiday album. There will be complimentary refreshments at the concert.
