The 4th of July is the official kick off for summer in Cape May. It’s a busy time of year. You can expect crowds enjoying the sunny days and the beach.
Cape May’s Independence Day Parade will be rolling along on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 1 pm. Marching bands will be parading down Beach Avenue along with veterans organizations, dance teams, cars, local officials and more! You’ll also see decorated golf carts, bicycles and baby carriages. The parade has a “Best Decorated Contest” and all decorated entries will have a chance to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes.

Lower Township (North Cape May) Independence Day Celebration will take place on Monday, June 3, 2023, from 5:30 pm to 10 pm. This will be happening on the Bayfront of North Cape May between Lincoln Blvd. and Emerson Avenue. Bring a blanket or a chair, find a spot on the beach, and settle in. The sand will get chilly after the sun goes down so you’ll need something between you and the sand.
There will be a lot of food vendors with summer favorites available for purchase plus beverages. Carnival rides will be there for you and yours to enjoy. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9 pm.
Cape May’s annual fireworks display takes place on July 4th. The fireworks will be launched from a barge a quarter mile offshore. This fabulous show can be viewed from the beach, promenade or from any property facing Beach Avenue.
