Chelsea Market is an iconic culinary destination. It has become an internationally renowned brand and is considered by many to be the greatest indoor food and retail marketplace. It’s located in the heart of New York City’s Meatpacking District. The market’s collection of distinctive and diverse merchants make it a beloved destination for foodies and tourists. It attracts more than 6 million national and international visitors each year.

This tour of Chelsea Market will give you 8 tastings, which are larger than the samples given on most food tours. You’ll hear historical stories of Chelsea Market, including how it used to be a factory for Nabisco and how the Oreo was created in 1912.

You’ll meet your professional guide in front of Damesfly Flowers, inside Chelsea Market’s 9th Avenue entrance. You will go to

  • Sarabeth’s for tasting freshly baked biscuits and small batch jam
  • Dickson’s Farmstand Meats offers artisanal meats and house made charcuterie. The tasting will be of their award winning hot dog, made in house. This is a seated tasting.
  • Chelsea Market Baskets for a tasting of a Leonidas bonbon

  • L’Arte del Gelato offers a tasting of a scoop of house made creamy gelato.

Your guide will give you information about the food you’re tasting. All the tastings will be the equivalent of a lunch.

You’ll take a guided walk in the High Line for 3 blocks, New York City’s elevated outdoor park. You’ll hear stories of the High Line trains that once served the butchers below the tracks.
