The Doobie Brothers are celebrating their 50th anniversary with The Doobie Brothers – The 2024 Tour. They have been entertaining us for 5 decades. They’re bringing their timeless blend of rock, soul and blues to long time fans as well as newcomers.
The Doobie Brothers came out of Northern California when Tom Johnston, singer/songwriter/guitarist, met drummer John Hartman. The two began playing local bars and were soon joined by Pat Simmons, singer/guitarist.
Their first album didn’t do much but with “Toulouse Street,” in 1972, they hit the air waves and began touring. Along the way, they were joined by Michael McDonald, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Bill Payne and John McFee.
The audiences loved their roots based, harmony laden, guitar driven rock ‘n roll. And the hits kept coming:
- “Black Water”
- “Long Train Running”
- “What A Fool Believes”
- “China Grove”
- “Jesus Is Just All Right”
- “Listen To The Music”
- “Nobody”
- “Rocking Down The Highway”
- “You Belong To Me”
- “Take Me In Your Arms”
- “Minute By Minute”
- “Takin’ It To The Streets”
- “Without You”
- “The Doctor”
- “Another Park, Another Sunday”
The Doobie Brothers were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 7, 2020. They’ve sold more than 48 million records worldwide. They have 4 gold, 7 platinum and 3 multi-platinum albums. Their 1976 album “Best of the Doobies” earned the rare RIAA Diamond status by selling more than 12 million copies. They have 16 Top 40 hits and 5 Top 10 singles.
