Top 5 Ways to Spend Mardi Gras in Orlando

When you think of Mardi Gras you think of New Orleans, but another great city to celebrate Mardi Gras is actually Orlando, Florida!  Here are 5 events going on around Orlando that will get you in that Mardi Gras Spirit:

1. Universal Orlando’s Mardi Gras Celebration

The best Mardi Gras celebration in Orlando has to be the Mardi Gras celebration going on at the Universal Orlando Resort!  You’ll get to enjoy parades, live New Orleans bands, delicious Cajun food, amazing concerts – and of course lots and lots of beads!  Seriously, this event couldn’t be any better even if it were held in New Orleans itself!  We go into more detail about this event here.

2. Parade at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter

The Port Orleans: French Quarter at Walt Disney World Resort is a great hotel any time of the year, but it is even more special during Mardi Gras!  You can see for yourself in our video:

In addition to the great New Orleans and Mardi Gras vibe of the hotel, you can enjoy a parade at nearby Port Orleans: French Quarter and Port Orleans: Riverside (another great hotel this time of the year).

3. House of Blues

House of Blues at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort is holding a Mardi Gras celebration on February 15th and February 22nd.  You can enjoy New Orleans style music from the live band, Brown Bag Brass Band.  This event also features giveaways and food & drink specials.

If you would like to attend this event and stay at a hotel that’s within walking distance, then consider staying at the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista, Wyndham Lake Buena Vista, Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista – Disney Springs Area, or Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort.  Here are videos of a few of these hotels:

4. Cocoa Mardi Gras

In nearby Cocoa, Florida you can enjoy the annual Cocoa Mardi Gras celebration.  This includes a parade, street performers from the French Quarter, live Zydeco music, Cajun food, and more.

5. Seven Seas Food Festival

The Seven Seas Food Festival is happening right now at SeaWorld Orlando theme park.  They offer a lot of great food and drinks at different stations that are themed to different parts of the world.  One of these markets is the Gulf Coast Market.  It serves a lot of great food that are perfect for celebrating Mardi Gras.  This includes foods like Crawfish Étouffée and Oyster Po Boy.

The Seven Seas Food Festival is included in the cost of admission to SeaWorld.  You can get discount tickets here.  You can see a video of last year’s festivities here:
