If you can’t make it to Munich for Oktoberfest, then Big Bear Lake in Southern California may just be the next best place to be. Oktoberfest celebration begins on September 7, 2024, and runs for 9 consecutive weekends through Saturday, November 2, 2024. Oktoberfest at Big Bear combines the beauty and charm of the mountain and lake with authentic German traditions, live German entertainment and the same beers and food served at the German celebrations. Now, doesn’t that sound like a whole lot of fun!
Be sure to come hungry because Oktoberfest serves up a German feast. Enjoy bratwurst, knockwurst or kielbasa with home style sauerkraut or German potato salad, served warm. You can also have Bavarian potato dumplings, beer cheese soup and gigantic pretzels. The fresh German apple strudel with warm vanilla sauce drizzled on top is a not to be missed dessert!
While you’re there, try a Brat Burger. It’s a black angus all beef patty with Swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Next comes an entire bratwurst, topped with grilled onions, pickles and German Dijon Aioli. This is sandwiched between two pretzels.
Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest serves a wide selection of German beers, such as Spaten (Oktoberfest and lager), Franziskaner, Konig Ludwig and Warsteiner (dunkel and pilsner). Enjoy genuine Deutschland style celebration. There are two full service bars inside the Convention Center. Outside, you’ll find 4 different beer gardens.
There will be bands providing live entertainment during Oktoberfest. Three of the bands will be from Bavaria. Die Gemutlichen Schuhplatter is a dance group from Anaheim that promotes and preserves the cultural dances and costumes from their German heritage.
