Pioneer Wilderness Adventures offers canyoneering experiences for enthusiasts with all level of experience. Go on an adventure with rock climbs and repels.

Canyoneering is the exploration of a canyon. It combines hiking, route finding, repelling, problem solving, rock climbing and swimming.

Phoenix Wilderness Adventures is located in the beautiful Sierra Ancha Mountains. Your canyoneering adventure will be in Salome Canyon, aka the Jug. Its pink and white granite cliffs are stunning.

Your adventure begins with a 2.5 mile hike. Then it’s time to don the wet suits and you’ll take the plunge into icy waters in pools in the canyon. See nature’s artwork with beautiful spires and waterfalls. You’ll have two repels and two or three water slides, depending on the water levels.

All PWA guides are qualified Wilderness Medical First Responders and have years of experience guiding in Arizona canyons. They can give you some interesting facts about geology and the terrain. You’ll hear a lot of great stories about this wild part of our country.

PWA also offers adventures on the Upper Salt River with kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. Kayaking is a great way to explore nature, great exercise and it’s a whole lot of fun!

Stand up paddle boarding is the world’s fastest growing sport. It’s safe, fun and easy! You’ll get a great core workout and it’s simply a blast!

Paddling in Upper Salt is like stepping back in time over 100 years. The desert environment offers spectacular vistas and natural beauty abounds. You will find few signs of civilization. Sonoran Desert flora and fauna can be seen and enjoyed. Mountains stand 500 to 1,000 feet above the river.

Included in this tour is 4×4 transportation in the area, guides, equipment, drinks and snacks.
