The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my family’s favorite Halloween (and Christmas!) movies. And those lucky enough to be in the New York City area this holiday season get to experience the movie in person!
Now through November 30, 2025, you’ll get to experience this beloved classic Disney animated holiday movie at the New York Botanical Gardens. That is where you’ll find Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail! I want to tell you about this experience, as well as how to save money on admission with a coupon.
You’ll get to see your favorite characters and scenes come to life in this exhibit. That includes Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, Oogie Boogie, Dr. Finkelstein, Lock, Shock, and Barrel. You get to see these classic characters and scenes with the backdrop of the beautiful botanic gardens. Halloween Town has gotten even bigger this year, so you should see even more scenes. The backdrop is a beautiful moonlit sky. All of this is beautiful to see – and makes for great photo opportunities!
Additionally, you can enjoy Danny Elfman’s classic soundtrack of the film during the Christmas lights trail. And, as the name implies, you can enjoy Christmas lights! This is an experience adults and children can enjoy together. So you’ll definitely want to check out this ten-week limited engagement.
Additional Information
Taking a ride share or public transportation can be the most easiest way to visit so you don’t have to bother with parking delays.
You can take the Metro-North Railroad. Use the Mosholu Entrance directly across from the station. The New York Botanical Garden is just twenty minutes from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, and you can take the Metro North Harlem local line.
If you’re taking the subway, take the B, D, or 4 train to Bedford Park Boulevard. You can also take any number of local buses to get to the Garden’s Mosholu Entrance.
If you’re driving, you can go to the Garden’s Main Entrance Parking Lot or their Parking Garage. Please be aware the parking is limited.
The Light Trail is paved and stroller-friendly. It is a walking tour that takes about forty-minutes or an hour to complete, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. And since it is outdoors, make sure you check the weather beforehand and dress accordingly.
