If you’re visiting London and would like to see filming locations from the Harry Potter movies, then consider taking the Harry Potter Magic Bus Tour! The bus tour takes place on a 1960s Routemaster bus. It was painted purple, as it was inspired by the Knight Bus from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The tour features an enthusiastic guide that shares stories and facts about the Harry Potter franchise. There’s even an interactive quiz and a chance for you to choose your house along the tour.
Along the tour, you’ll get to see filming locations from the Harry Potter movies. This includes:
- Gringotts Wizarding Bank
- Diagon Alley
- The Leaky Cauldron
- Piccadilly Circus, where Harry, Hermione & Ron fled from the Death Eaters after their attack at Bill and Fleur’s wedding in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
- The location where Harry and Arthur Weasley use a phone box to access the Ministry of Magic in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
You’ll be able to stop and pose for photos, which makes a wonderful souvenir of your trip.
A neat thing about this tour is that it can actually double as a great way to see iconic London landmarks. In addition to seeing Harry Potter filming locations, you’ll see top London icons, such as:

- London Eye
- Millenium Bridge
- Tower of London
- Shakespeare’s Globe

The tour runs at 2:00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The bus tour departs and returns to Embankment (by the River Thames). It is a family-friendly tour and appropriate for both adults and children. Please note, however, that the bus is unfortunately not wheelchair-friendly and pushchairs must be folded for boarding.
