Northern California’s Gilroy Gardens is celebrating Halloween. At night, a mysterious glow illuminates the gardens in a spooky – but not too scary – Halloween event. This event is called The Great Big BOO! You can save money when attending the event with a discount ticket you can find here.
One of the highlights is trick-or-treating. And the trick-or-treating isn’t just limited to children. All ages can trick-or-treat, and I think that’s great because not all events are like that. It’s fun for us adults, too, to put on a costume and relive our childhood. But it’s great for kids, too, and it is a way to let your kid trick-or-treat in a very safe way.
A few notes, though, about the costumes: masks that cover the entire face aren’t allowed. You also cannot include a weapon in your costume. Also, make sure your costume is appropriate for the family setting.
The event also has live entertainment. You can start your evening at BOO Town Hall with Storyteller Sammy Jo Scarecrow and the BOO Crew. You can “Do The Boo” with spooky characters in a live musical show. Meet Wendella the Witch, Vinnie the Vampire and Frankie the Lounge Singer on an adventure to save Halloween.
Also, who says Christmas is the only holiday with a light tunnel? You can enjoy beautiful lights in the Boo Alley Light Tunnel.
Since this is a theme park, there are rides available (the only exceptions to this are the Paddle Boats, Rainbow Garden, and the Sky Trail).
There are foods and drinks available during the event. Fun food items include apple pumpkin funnel cake and loaded jumbo potatoes. There are kid-friendly drinks with a Halloween twist. And there are also Halloween-themed cocktails for adults such as the BOO Butter Brew or Hocus Pocus Punch. There is even a bar for the event, Frankie’s Lounge.
Other attractions at the event include Princess Priscilla’s Perfect Tea Party, Wendella’s House on the Hill, and Cranium’s Mad Lab.
