Meadow Brook Hall Winter Wonder Lights

Meadow Brook in Rochester, Michigan is a National Historic Landmark.  It is a wonderful 110-room Tudor revival-style mansion.  It was actually built by one of Detroit’s automotive aristocracy’s most famous people, Matilda Dodge Wilson (widow of automobile pioneer John Dodge) and her second husband, lumber broker Alfred Wilson.  And it is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year.

But this holiday season, it will be even special.  And that is because of the Winter Wonder Lights special event.

Winter Wonder Lights is a new outdoor holiday light show on the grounds of Meadow Brook Hall.  You get to see the beautiful mansion decorated for Christmas.  I mean, Meadow Brooks is nominated again by USA Today readers as one of the Best Holiday Historic Home Tours in America for 2020.

But in addition to getting to see the mansion beautifully decorated, you get an even better experience because of the new holiday lights.

Light Environments

And it is a lot of holiday lights, and they make up beautiful sights.  In fact, there are almost a dozen unique light environments you can explore.

Here are a few special ones.

Home for the Holidays

Home for the Holidays is a medley of light & sound you can find along the front circle drive.

Pattern Pastorals

Frosted Flowers

Frosted Flowers is a beautiful display of lit flora and fauna.

Holiday Hallway

See how the Dodge & Wilson kids spent the holiday season as you go through Holiday Hallway in the Rose Garden.  You’ll see sleds and rides in one-horse open sleighs.

And as the Detroit News pointed out, it is a safe event.  Face masks or cloth face coverings are required for all guests.  Social distancing is also required.  Meadow Brook Hall has also made sure the event’s tour route is one-way.  That will also help prevent people from being face to face.  All high-touch surface areas like restrooms are disinfected frequently.  And they have set up multiple hand sanitizer stations to keep you safe.
