Park City Travel Guide
Located southeast of Salt Lake City, Park City is in the Wasatch Mountains. It began as a mining town in the late 1800s. Skiing became popular in the 1920s and Park City emerged as a prime destination for this sport.
Park City has been called “Winter’s Favorite Town.” There are 426 trails across 9,326 acres with numerous spots for Nordic skiing. The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team has its headquarters here. In the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, Park City hosted the Ski and Snowboarding events. With over 40 miles of groomed trails, Park City attracts cross country skiing enthusiasts.
Park City is home to the Sundance Film Festival, the largest film festival in the United States. Other events held here include the Kimball Arts Festival and the Deer Valley Music Festival.
Main Street is the heart of Park City. Take a leisurely stroll and see upscale boutiques, antique shops, book stores, bakeries, candy shops, and unique local shops. See old mining cabins that have been restored. Park City offers fast food to gourmet dining and everything in between. It has a vibrant nightlife with numerous clubs and bars.
Park City was named one of the “20 Prettiest Towns” in this country by Forbes Traveler Magazine. It received a Gold Level Ride Center designation from the International Mountain Bicycle Association.
