Lake Nottely is a beautiful 4,000 acre lake with more than half its shoreline undeveloped and protected by the U.S. Forest Service. It’s located two hours north of Atlanta in Blairsville, Georgia. The lake is well known for its incredible fishing, especially bass. Boaters love this lake and there are numerous public launch sites and also boat rentals. Lake Nottely is also a great swimming lake. Near the dam is a deep good place to anchor the boat and jump into the water. There are also cliffs you can climb and jump into the water. And there’s Poteete Creek Beach which is open to the public. People also enjoy paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. It is said that if you scuba dive you’ll see the remains of a town that was flooded when they created the lake.
