My family recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. We got a really good deal for a room by renting a DVC villa even though we are not Disney Vacation Club members. We tell you how you can do that here.
The Wilderness Lodge is a really great hotel. It’s really close to the Magic Kingdom, and you can take a boat there (which we way preferred to taking a bus). And it has a wonderful, woodsy feel and a great Pacific Northwest national park theme.

So one of the days we stayed there, we decided to stay back at the hotel and not go back out to one of the parks after a nice, relaxing nap. We decided to have dinner at Geyser Point Bar and Grill.
Geyser Point Bar & Grill
Geyser Point Bar and Grill is one of the newer restaurants at the Wilderness Lodge. It is an outdoor restaurant. Though there it is covered and there are fans going, so it’s not too hot during the day. And they have lots of TVs there and great Bay Lake views.
The restaurant to me, though, is a bit confusing compared to other restaurants. You can either enjoy a sit-down experience or you can order your food. And here is where it is a lot different than other Disney dining experiences. If you order the food through the app, which we did, you can’t eat in the main Geyser Point Bar & Grill. But you also can’t book a reservation for Geyser Point. You have to just walk up, scan a bar code, and then you can be put on a waiting list.
The waiter (who was really nice) told me he could cancel my order and then be put on a waiting list. But we decided to go ahead and eat our meal. And the truth is, we actually liked where we ate even better.
Now, this was at nighttime. If this was the middle of the day, I wouldn’t have wanted to eat without the fans. So if you are eating there on a hot day for lunch, you might want to opt to walk up and see if there is seating.
But otherwise, doing the mobile order is convenient. And there is great seating. You can get a table right by Bay Lake.
Or you can get a table right by the geyser at Wilderness Lodge. Which is what we did. As you might have guessed based on the restaurant’s name, Geyser Point Bar & Grill is located right beside Wilderness Lodge’s geyser. It spouts water every hour. I’ve been to Yellowstone National Park before, and it reminds me a lot of Old Faithful. We loved sitting next to the geyser because while we were waiting for our food to be ready, we got to watch the geyser.
Geyser Point Food Review
The wait for our food was a bit longer than other quick-service restaurants, which may be because it is also a sit-down restaurant. We really didn’t mind the wait, though, as the Wilderness Lodge has such a nice, relaxing feel. We were really enjoying unwinding at the end of the day. And at any rate, the wait was worth it!
Of all the food we ordered, the bison burgers were our favorite. They were so delicious!
I’ve had bison burgers before, but this was one of the bests. I highly recommend it. If you’ve never had bison burgers but you’ve had regular burgers, I think you’ll like it. In fact, I think you’ll like it even more! And it’s such a great menu item to order at Wilderness Lodge because it fits the theming so well!
One negative I will say about the burgers is that they left out the lettuce, tomato, and onions, which was surprising. But the burger itself was so good, the bun was soft, and the bacon was delicious, so we really didn’t mind.
The turkey sandwich had more mixed reviews.
My dad loved it but my sister didn’t like it as much, but to be fair, smoked turkey isn’t her favorite kind of turkey. But the bison burger was filling so she ended up having some of the leftover bison burgers, which she then loved and decided she’d order next time.
As for sides, they were both good. But I think next time I’ll get the chips because they were great.
Geyser Point Location
Another great thing about eating here is that it is so relaxing. Wilderness Lodge has such a great location. While it is close to Magic Kingdom, it is far enough away that you can feel like you are in the woods. While we were eating and waiting for our food, we really enjoyed the whole atmosphere of the resort. Our lives can get so busy, so sometimes it’s nice to just get away in nature and enjoy it. And for me, I especially like it if I am just a boat right away from Magic Kingdom!
Speaking of its proximity to Magic Kingdom, did you know you can watch the fireworks from the Wilderness Lodge? There’s a great place to watch it right outside Geyser Point Bar and Grill.
When we were done eating, we waited until 8:45 for when the fireworks started. Then, we walked over to get a view of the fireworks. It’s not as good as a view as you’d get in the parks. And you don’t get the projections. But it sure beats standing around waiting for hours!
And it is a lot less crowded to watch the fireworks this way. You even get the music, too, because they pipe the music in! So it just made a really nice experience. After my dinner, it was just a short walk back to my room and I ended the night with a relaxing swim in the pool. This made for a really nice, relaxing end to my day.
Conclusion
We definitely recommend staying at Wilderness Lodge. It is a wonderful hotel. You can get a rate for Wilderness Lodge by booking here.
And if you do stay at the Wilderness Lodge, we recommend having a meal at Geyser Point Bar and Grill. Especially if you order the bison burger!
