Recently, I talked about all the reasons why you should go to Busch Gardens Christmas Town in Williamsburg, Virginia. But if you love Christmas the way I do, you’ll want even more Christmas fun. And that’s why it’s great that this year Kings Dominion in nearby Doswell is transforming its park into a Winterfest!
The park will be decorated with million of lights and falling snow. International Street will become a winter wonderland with a 70-foot tall Christmas tree with over 40,000 ornaments and the Eiffel Tower will be converted into a 300-feet Christmas tree with a state-of-the-art light show. You can watch performances of Jingle Jazz, Cool Yule Christmas and see Snoopy & the gang in Snoopy’s Ice Show. You can go to the North Pole Post Office where elves can help your child write a letter to Santa, decorate cookies in Mrs. Claus’s Kitchen or you and your family can try ice skating on Snowflake Lake in the shadow of Eiffel Tower. You can also purchase crafts or eat holiday treats, and select rides & attractions of King’s Dominion will be open. And you can buy discounted tickets through Reserve Williamsburg, so if you go ahead and book your season pass now, you can get into this event for free!
Now, if you don’t live close enough to Kings Dominion to make it a day trip, then I suggest you consider staying at Country Inn & Suites by Carlson in Doswell. You can get a room at Country Inn & Suites on a weekend for a family of four for under $100 a night on weekends, making it very doable for a weekend trip. And it’s a great choice for a hotel if you are going to King’s Dominion because not only it is affordable, but the hotel is across the street from Kings Dominion! You can walk across the street to go to the theme park, or you can take the hotel’s complimentary shuttle to Kings Dominion, which runs every 30 minutes.
Country Inn & Suite By Carlson in Doswell is also a great choice for a hotel in its own right, because in addition to being located near Kings Dominion, it is close to area shops & restaurants, Three Lakes Park & Nature Center and Meadow Event Park, where you can enjoy Illuminate Light Show & Santa’s Village, which is Central Virginia’s largest drive-thru Christmas light show! The hotel also has a heated indoor pool, which can add to the fun of your trip, and a complimentary hot breakfast, which also makes the hotel a great economical decision since you can save money on food.
