I’ve talked before about all the fun events at SeaWorld San Diego’s Halloween Spooktacular Event. But SeaWorld’s newest theme park, Sesame Place San Diego, also has great Halloween festivities at their fall event. And that event is The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular!
The event begins on September 14, 2024. It runs through November 3, 2024. It takes place on select dates this fall. And it, of course, takes place at the children-centric Sesame Place theme park in Chula Vista, California.
I’m going to tell you about all the fun activities you can do here. And then I’ll tell you how you can save money on your tickets!
The Sesame Street Halloween Parade
This is my personal favorite activity at The Sesame Street Halloween Cavalcade. I love all Sesame Street parades. And I love getting to see the Sesame Street characters in their Halloween costumes during the parade! This includes Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Count von Count, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Zoe, Cookie Monster, Rosita, and Telly.
Not only do the characters dress up, but all eight floats are decked out for Halloween. This is also a great chance for you and your kids to sing and dance, too!
Halloween Costume Parade
But as exciting as it is to watch a parade, how exciting would it be to be part of a parade? Well, children and their families can participate in a miniature Halloween Costume Parade! It will be a fun walk through the Sesame Street neighborhood. All participants even get to take home a special participation gift! And if you are looking for some great Halloween costumes this year, check out the Green Vacation Deals approved Halloween costumes here.
Furry Friends Halloween Dance Party
Speaking of a chance for your kids to dance, this event has its own Halloween dance party! This is an interactive dance party where fun kid-friendly Halloween songs are played (so you know you’re going to hear “Monster Mash” at least once!). This takes place at Big Bird’s Wave Pool Lawn.
Trick-or-Treat Stations
What’s Halloween without trick-or-treating? Your child will love trick-or-treating their way around Sesame. The experience is fun and of course they’ll appreciate getting candy!
All you need to do to participate is to purchase a reusable tote bag. You can get one at Mr. Hooper’s Store, Sesame Souvenirs, and select carts throughout the park. Trick-or-treating only takes place between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Countdown to Halloween
Countdown to Halloween is a Halloween show that takes place at the Sesame Street Theater. It takes place on Count von Cont’s favorite night of the year, which is, of course, Halloween! He leaves his castle in search of old friends. Along the way, he meets new friends and learns about the importance of friendship.
Scavenger Hunts
I’ve always loved scavenger hunts, even as a child. If you and your kids are like me, then they’ll love that there are two different Scavenger Hunts at this festival: Spot the Ghost Scavenger Hunt and Scarecrow Hunt. You can purchase a scavenger hunt map at Rental Kiosk. Then it’s up to you to find all the ghosts (who are, of course, friendly and not too spooky) or scarecrows. After you are done, you can turn your map back into Rental Kiosk and you’ll win a Halloween prize!
Sesame Street Character Photo Opportunities
So you know how I mentioned how much I love seeing Sesame Street characters in their Halloween costumes? Well, you can see them even when the parade isn’t going on. You can get some great photos of your child with Sesame Street characters in their Halloween costume! This makes for great updates to your social media accounts!
Halloween Storytime
Head to Big Bird’s Nest to hear a Halloween story as told by a popular Sesame Street character. But don’t worry; this story is way more silly than spooky. Afterward, you can enjoy a great photo and hug opportunity from the character.
Halloween Costume Contest
This is you and your kids’ chance to get creative and celebrate the season. You can sign your child up for the annual Costume Contest! There are prizes awarded for first, second, and third-place costumes in both the best child and the best family categories. It takes place on Saturday, October 28, 2023, and Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Sesame Street Theater.
Discount Tickets
So I know you’re thinking this would be a great experience for your child. But you might also be thinking, how much does this cost?
Well, luckily, not much. It’s included in the cost of admission so if you have a season pass, you’re already covered. And if you don’t already have a ticket, you can currently save 50% on your ticket. All you have to do is buy your ticket here.
