The unique climate of the Niagara region of Southern Ontario lends itself to elite winemaking. It is on the same latitude as Southern France, although the winters are colder and the summers are more humid.
Niagara’s first commercial winery was founded in 1873. Today it is home to over 50 wineries. The four grapes that dominate in Niagara are the Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.
The best way to experience some of Niagara’s best wineries, breweries and cider distilleries is on a tour. Niagara Fun Tours is offering a Half Day Beverage Tour of Niagara. Get a taste of Niagara’s growing beverage industry on this fun filled four hour tour.
The tours run on Saturdays from April 2 to October 29 each year. There are two tours each Saturday beginning at 10:30 am and 4 pm. There are three pick up options in Niagara Falls.
You’ll ride in a comfortable motor coach and enjoy the beauty of the countryside on your journey. Your tour will make three stops. You’ll visit a family operated winery, an award winning Hard Cider Distillery and Niagara’s first Microbrewery and Grill. They are as follows:
- Legends Estates Winery
- Taps Brewhouse
- Atlantis Niagara Cider Distillery
Winery stops are subject to change.
At each stop, you will receive free wine, beer and hard cider samples. You can talk to the winery and brewery managers and ask questions about the process. Sample new wines and have fun talking with other wine enthusiasts.
After sampling, you’ll have time to go shopping. Food options will be available for purchase. You can also purchase wine, beer and cider by the glass or bottles to go.
