The Lunar Calendar places New Year’s Day at the end of January or the beginning of February.  This year, Lunar New Year, aka Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, falls on February 10, 2024, the day of the second new moon.  Celebrations for the Year of the Dragon continue for approximately 15 days.

Mississauga has a large and diverse Asian population.  Every year there are many events held there to usher in the Lunar New Year.

2024 Mississauga Night – Lunar New Year Gala

Mississauga Chinese Arts Organization (MCAO) is presenting the 2024 Mississauga Night – Lunar New Year Gala to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.  They are producing a spectacular show featuring performers of Chinese traditional arts and Multicultural arts with diverse groups.

You’ll see dancing, including folk, ballet and hip hop.  You’ll hear Chinese traditional folk music.  There will be magic tricks and comedians.

The excitement and energy of the performers makes for a truly unforgettable Lunar New Year experience.

This will be happening on January 27, 2024, from 7 pm to 9 pm at Hammerson Hall at the Living Arts Center in Mississauga.

I’ve seen tickets for the Gala at online ticket brokers going for $54.  Book your tickets here and you can save $18 on each ticket.

Masked – New Years Masquerade Ball

Ring in the New Year in high style at Masked – New Year’s Masquerade Ball.  Masks and mystery combine for a night you’ll never forget!  This will be happening on January 19, 2024, at the lovely Grand Banquet & Event Centre.

Don your best attire, bring your mask and get ready to dance the night away!  One of Mississauga’s best DJs will keep the party going, spinning the latest hits and classic tunes.  Enjoy the music, delicious food and a large selection of beverages.  Capture memories in the photo booth and share them on social media.

Unveil your hidden identity in the exciting mask contest and you could even win fantastic prizes!  If you need help with a mask, look at the selection here for women and here for men.
